Ad: More newness! New Hasbro Star Wars: The Vintage Collection and The Black Series toys are up for order today at Entertainment Earth! One new vehicle (with figure) joins several new action figures across the two major collector scales. Grab Star Wars The Vintage Collection 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures 2 Wave 7 Case of 8 and Star Wars The Black Series 3 6-Inch Action Figures Wave 3 Case of 6 to cover your bases.
Does that headline make any sense? I hope so. While looking at Thingiverse, I saw a listing for a free file so you can print a Star Wars Ghost - Phantom 1 adapter. When the HasLab project was revealed I asked if there was any way Hasbro could dock the older shuttle from the original cartoon and was told no - apparently, the answer is actually "yes." It looks like for pennies, we could have had a means to dock the existing ship with our new massive freighters.
Apparently it is just that easy.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian (Speeder Bike / Epic Hero Series). It's an actual toy! It comes with a bike that has wheels. He has elbow and knee joints. It's a big improvement over last year's figure, but I haven't yet seen this one on store shelves. His companion, the Imperial Speeder Bike, seems to be abundant at Target though. Read on!
Ad: Tons of new pre-orders are up at Entertainment Earth, including the Retro-friendly Star Wars The Vintage Collection The Armorer's Forge Playset with Action Figures! You can't miss the Star Wars: The Retro Collection Attack of the Clones & Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures either - it's great!
Also check out the Transformers Generations 40th Anniversary Comic Edition Autobot Flame & Emirate Xaaron Action Figures, and this year's greatest secret (and fun) team - the Transformers Legacy United 6-Figure Dinoking Combiner Set.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Blurrg (The Vintage Collection). This is a pretty exciting toy, in no small part because it feels new. There was one in Mission Fleet but this is the first-ever 3 3/4-inch scale Blurrg. This one is from The Mandalorian, but you may remember it from The Clone Wars or Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. This may also be the single most interesting The Vintage Collection toy to come out for the rest of 2024.
It's sturdy, the articulation is good for a creature of this nature, and the paint is excellent. If you can find one, you should probably pick one up as we've gotten virtually no new creatures (or vehicles) in recent years, and this one is really fun. While it does come with another Mando figure - and we'll look at him shortly - it was also retooled to work with the creature, so at least it's a little different. Read on!
Coming up at 8:00 AM Pacitic on Monday: Star Tours StarSpeeder 3000 Vehicle Play Set. It's huge - with a display stand, and a carded Rex, and apparently the entire ride of the original 1987 edition of Star Tours playing on the screen. It seats a ton of figures (who may not fit, but that remains to be seen) and is basically like having the ride concept on a shelf in your house.
Last year, our San Diego Comic-Con exclusive was Krrsantan with a variant head and some extra gear at a big mark-up. While it wasn't sold on the show floor, you could buy it in an off-site exhibition with decades of Hasbro and Kenner toys on display. (Before you say "no it couldn't," yes you could, I bought mine there.) This year, your exclusive is a 6-inch Darth Maul with a Sith Speeder! It's not uncool, but there was another Maul in another figure 3-pack pretty recently. IGN posted a story showing it as well as Death's Head (for Marvel Legends and Transformers fanatics), Cobra Commander (in a new-to-toy format), and a 2-pack of Megatron and Orion Pax for Transformers.
One nice thing about this set is that it comes in a very 1999/2000-style red and black box. I don't know if there's a lot of nostalgia for it, but I quite liked it and had fond memories of the whole launch of the movie and its toys.
In case you forgot, GameStop got the 3-pack with Maul, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon earlier this year. If you don't want the probe or the speeder, you might want to pick that up.
For those keeping track at home, these are new versions of existing characters, in some cases with new accessories - no character is debuting in this format for the convention, although hard core fans may appreciate some of the specificity and variations to be had. I was certainly surprised to see this specific Cobra Commander and this specific Death's Head finally, and I bet a lot of fans will really enjoy them.
a href="http://figureoftheday.blogspot.com/2024/06/star-wars-figure-of-day-day-3147-bespin.html">Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Bespin (Silhouette II).This one is gorgeous - Mattel made a bunch of cars with little designs on them not unlike the old Burger King glasses, and this one comes from a set fo planet-themed cars. This one uses the Silhouette II car, which looks kind of like a single version of the Twin-Pod Cloud Car, and is based on one of the very first Hot Wheels cars. Also the design is beautiful. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Luke Skywalker (RacerVerse). I really like this one too - I've been seeing him at Target if you want to go see one in person, and he's worth the six bucks. Sure, there isn't a full X worth of wings, but it's a charming little toy and the kind of thing that's fun to scoot around on your desk. It's more of an actual toy than a toy-shaped collectible, so if you have kids or tracks or race little cars, absolutely go get one of these. And if you're sick of car that's OK, we have one more Friday and that's it. Read on!
a href="http://figureoftheday.blogspot.com/2024/06/star-wars-figure-of-day-day-3145.html">Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Millennium Falcon (Hot Wheels Carships). I picked this one up at 99 Cents Only stores (RIP) a few years ago and opened it a couple of months ago. It's pretty nifty - basically they slapped a racing stripe on the Falcon and slapped a metal ship on a plastic sled with wheels. It's pretty good - if you have a launcher, it'll go pretty far with a slight nudge. It's also one of the faster cars I've got when I tried it in a downhill race, but wasn't fast enough to beat the Slave I Carships toy I got. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hot Wheels Princess Leia (RacerVerse Blockade Runner Tantive IV). It's Wheels Week, and this is the reason why - I saw her in a store and said "wait, what else have I missed?" It's basically a 1980s McDonald's Happy Meal toy, but with the quality of a Hot Wheels car, and also it's a ship you don't see as a toy very much. It's a winner. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hot Wheels Han Solo (Twinduction). It's Wheels Week, so let's go through my stash of cars and see what was sitting around - this one is not the best, but it has some nice graphics on the card and on the side of the car itself. Read on!
Hasbro hasn't actually made a completely new 3 3/4-inch vehicle for years (last year's N-1 Fighter was still a Naboo Fighter), but now we're getting the Star Wars The Vintage Collection New Republic E-Wing & KE4-N4. That's the little Kenner R2-D2 droid from Ahsoka in here, but sadly the pilot is sold separately. At $99.99 (and seemingly made-to-order with a pre-order deadline of March 5, 2024) it certainly isn't cheap, but other recent vehicles for collectors are in this general ballpark. I ordered one. You can order one here.
If the vehicle looks familiar, it should. One of Galoob's final Action Fleet vehicles was an E-Wing back in the 1990s, but other than that it's a pretty obscure vehicle that doesn't get a lot of love. (Even I confuse it with the 1990s version of the V-Wing at times. It's not the same as the prequel V-Wing.) This E-Wing looks cool, and I assume the pack-in droid is going to be the selling point for most fans.
Ad: The Star Wars The Vintage Collection The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter Vehicle in in stock - some fans (like the one who writes this site) already received theirs! It includes a carded Mando and a paper bagged Grogu - if you collect everybody on the card, you will want this. Orders of $79+ ship for free with the code FALLFREE79!
There are also exciting new Hasbro Marvel Lucha Libre figures. Show a friend. They will thank you.
