Hasbro Reveals SDCC 2024 Exclusives (No 3 3/4-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 27, 2024

Last year, our San Diego Comic-Con exclusive was Krrsantan with a variant head and some extra gear at a big mark-up. While it wasn't sold on the show floor, you could buy it in an off-site exhibition with decades of Hasbro and Kenner toys on display. (Before you say "no it couldn't," yes you could, I bought mine there.) This year, your exclusive is a 6-inch Darth Maul with a Sith Speeder! It's not uncool, but there was another Maul in another figure 3-pack pretty recently. IGN posted a story showing it as well as Death's Head (for Marvel Legends and Transformers fanatics), Cobra Commander (in a new-to-toy format), and a 2-pack of Megatron and Orion Pax for Transformers.

One nice thing about this set is that it comes in a very 1999/2000-style red and black box.  I don't know if there's a lot of nostalgia for it, but I quite liked it and had fond memories of the whole launch of the movie and its toys.

In case you forgot, GameStop got the 3-pack with Maul, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon earlier this year.  If you don't want the probe or the speeder, you might want to pick that up.

For those keeping track at home, these are new versions of existing characters, in some cases with new accessories - no character is debuting in this format for the convention, although hard core fans may appreciate some of the specificity and variations to be had. I was certainly surprised to see this specific Cobra Commander and this specific Death's Head finally, and I bet a lot of fans will really enjoy them.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,053: Krrsantan (SDCC, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 8, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Krrsantan (SDCC, The Vintage Collection). This big Wookiee debuted at SDCC and is very similar to the mass release version, except he has a unique head, a distinct package, and a couple of exclusive weapons. But if you want the mug, the fruit, the hands, and the rifle, either version will do. Is it worth the $40? Read on!

SDCC 2023 Preview Night: Adam's Snapshots from Hasbro

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, July 23, 2023

Crossposted from 16bit.com! I loves me some Star Wars. 3 3/4-inch figures are best, especially the retro ones. Hasbro had The Book of Boba Fett wave of The Retro Collection online with Boba Fett, a Tusken Raider, Cad Bane, Luke Skywalker (black robe and no blaster), Grogu, Mando, Fennec Shand, and Tusken Boba. It's a nice selection.

SDCC 2023 - Hasbro - Star Wars

The Boba/Jabba/Bib throne room was on display, as were tons of lightsabers and other recent reveals. Even some Ahsoka toys were there, including a swell hat, a lightsaber, and a Chopper droid toy. You may have seen a few of these before, or not - the Mission Fleet sets were, I think, at least partially new.

Hasbro Star Wars SDCC and PulseCon Figures Revealed

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 12, 2023

We had two reveals today. One (pictured) is Collider's 'The Book of Boba Fett's Black Krrsantan Heads to SDCC With Epic New Hasbro Figure [Exclusive], a $40 variant of a $28 pre-order you forgot you made already. Pre-order QR codes will be distributed at San Diego Comic-Con International next week. It is worth noting the variant has an alternate head, so you may want both versions or you may be perfectly happy with the cheaper (and I think better-looking) closed-mouth main line version. The pre-order for the standard release shows a lot of those accessories, so unless someone made an error the plussed-up more-expensive edition may not even be worth your while.

The other is Fandom's reveal of Starkiller Strikes in New Force Unleashed Star Wars The Black Series Figure Set, a $110.99 set that gives you two figures you got for around $19.99 in 2020 and one new figure. This one is slated for Hasbro's PulseCon event, which usually is a pre-recorded showing of new stuff over a weekend in September.

Not SDCC: Star Wars Heroes of Endor The Black Series Set

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, July 20, 2020

3795 Also not quite SDCC-exclusive are Pulse's pricey box set at $110.  Due in September, this Heroes of Endor figure set includes four figures, a Speeder Bike, and 6 accessories - or maybe more, it's hard to tell.   In it, we see Endor Poncho Luke, Leia minus the poncho - we're unclear if it's included at press time - Han Solo sans Endor Trenchcoat, and Paploo.  It's a curious combo platter, and we don't even know if the helmets are removable yet.

More information on Han's coat or Leia's poncho if and when we get it.  As of now, this is the only known place to get Paploo.  With Teebo sold separately, these mark the first 6-inch scale Ewok action figures in this line.

Here's what Hasbro has to say:

Not SDCC: Star Wars 40th Anniversary Wampa

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, July 20, 2020

3791 A few years ago, Hasbro sold a pretty good Wampa with a pretty good Hoth Luke for about $40.  It was a good deal.   This year, Hasbro will be selling a $30 Wampa in a closed box with a fifth panel as part of its not-SDCC Pulse drop in September.   Luke is not included, but the deco has been updated in a few places - his paws are painted, like Kenner's original toy.  (The previous 6-inch wampa's claws were painted.)  The wampa dropped the blood.  Also, the colors around the eyes are a little different.  I daresay it's better, which is good, because it's $30.

The figure is about as nicely articulated as a lot of the other 6-inch figures, and features no action mechanisms like the orignial's cord-powered arms.

SDCC 2019 - Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series Boba Fett Helmet

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, July 20, 2019

3727 The coolest new thing Hasbro unveiled at Comic-Con this year - admittedly, it's a small pool from which to draw - was the Boba Fett Helmet which we were later told is coming in 2020.  This high-end toy helmet will make you glad if you sold your 2010ish The Clone Wars model recently.

SDCC 2019 - Hasbro Tatooine is our Star Wars Diorama

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, July 19, 2019

3722 Jabba's palace in 6-inch scale, complete with a Rancor, and the Barge in 3 3/4-inch scale, were on display in full force! Packed with modern and classic figures as well as what we have been informed were custom figures, there's not a lot of new product here - but the diorama itself is pretty spectacular.  Check it out!

Sith Happens - Star Wars Sith Trooper Invades SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 10, 2019

The official Star Wars site, PR people, and all sorts of fans saw the news that you can See the New Sith Trooper from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at SDCC 2019.  This means that the people behind the movies now know what smart, handsome toy professionals have known for years - red looks good on Stormtroopers.

3710

Funko, Hasbro, Loungefly, Topps, Rubie's (Hi Lenny!), Hot Toys, and more - interestingly, not Mattel - will be selling some first-look Sith Trooper action figures.  For those with memory issues, Hasbro has done "sneak preview" The Black Series figures for all of the Disney-era movies except for Solo, and nearly identical figures were released with different packaging and sometimes without some accessories later.

SDCC: Star Wars - The Vintage Collection Updates

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, July 21, 2018

3637 Hasbro revealed some freshness for us, plus a long-requested return of Darth Revan - yes, the 2007 figure.  Finally.

3638 Other new figures include a Rogue One Stormtrooper using the Mimban Stormtrooper body and a helmet from the 5-points-of-articulation figure.  It looks good.

Lando Calrissian and Han Solo are on the way from Solo.

SDCC: Solo: A Star Wars Story 3 3/4-Inch Home Video Set

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, July 21, 2018

3636 You've possibly seen this, but this 4-pack of Solo: A Star Wars Story Action Figures brings you Han Solo (new, coat), Qi'ra (new outfit), Weazel (new), and a Range Trooper (build your armies).  3 out of 4 plus a desirable trooper ain't bad - this set should hit around September at video time.

SDCC: Solo: A Star Wars Story 3 3/4-Inch Reveals

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, July 21, 2018

3629 After the first few waves came and went without a standard Han in it, we were wondering what future was there for Solo toys.  The good news is Hasbro was more than ready for us, with several of the principle characters getting toys in the very near future.   Val will join L3-37, Tobias Beckett, Rio Durant, Han Solo as Imperial Infantry, and Quay Tolsite.

3630 At this time it was not specified if these figures were singles, 2-packs, or exclusives somewhere.  But they look pretty ready to go, so there's that.

After a pretty dry run, it's nice to see a big shot of variety, newness, and something we can recognize in this line.  Even if it's from a movie you didn't see, probably.  But that's not my fault - it was a fun movie and you should've gone to see it by now!   Read on for more images.

SDCC Breakfast Reveal - New Black Series 6-Inch Solo Imperial Patrol Trooper

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, July 20, 2018

3622 At the Hasbro fan breakfast yesterday, we got a look at the Imperial Patrol Trooper coming to The Black Series at some point in the next few months.  I't from Solo: A Star Wars Story which a straw poll around here seems to indicate a lot of fans didn't even bother to go see - a shame, as it looks more like a Star Wars movie when it comes to characters and costumes.

Star Wars: The Black Series Val at SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, July 19, 2018

3619 The Black Series continues with Val.   She didn't get to do much in the film, but she made enough of an impact to get a toy in a few months!  This 6-inch action figure was previewed Wednesday night in two places.
