Star Wars: The Black Series L3-37 at SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, July 19, 2018

3616 Lando's droid gal pal, navigator, and future brains of the Millennium Falcon was on display at Comic-Con.  The 6-inch scale The Black Series figure joins Val and others, presumably later this year, and if you're here you can see L3-37 in a diorama or on the display shelves.

Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Yak Face at SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 18, 2018

3614 Also expected for 2019, this Yak Face was first previewed at Toy Fair.  And here it is in color, in person!  For me. You're not here.

The figure didn't seem to have a visible accessory - so I don't know if it has a Nikto pike, or a Gaffi stick, or something else - but it does look a little truer to the original movie costume.   I like it.

Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Klaatu Skiff Guard at SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 18, 2018

3612 While we've seen renderings before, I don't believe I've been in the presence of this Klaatu Skiff Guard figure in person.   From The Vintage Collection, this is one of increasingly few new "classic" figures to come from Hasbro since the Mouse ate Lucasfilm.   It should be out in 2019, unless I missed some exciting news.

Forces of Destiny's Porgs come with Chewbacca at SDCC 2018

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, July 6, 2018

3609 Forces of Destiny had a lot going for it - much of which may never see the light of day.  New episodes keep streaming, but new toys are far and few between.  The Porgs with Chewbacca got far enough along that you can snag yours at Comic-Con in a couple of weeks.  Cnet has the scoop - Chewie can be bought today, but the whole set is $50 at the show.  Read more here.

SDCC 2018: The Empire Strikes Back Mynock Hunt

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, June 13, 2018

3602 Sometimes we get exclusive figures, sometimes we get sneak peeks with exclusive gear.  The STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES HAN SOLO AND MYNOCK figures are a surprisingly fair $34.99 in a big fancy box that recalls the awesome Boba Fett from 2013.   Han has a breathing mask, Mynock, and some other goodies.  The box reads "Exogorth Escape," and if that seems baffling that's because you missed the Knights of the Old Republic comic books that gave a name and backstory to the big space slugs.  Mystery is dead, but the hunt lives on - more pictures and press info after the break.

It's pretty dang cool.  At this time we do not know if this is the final exclusive or what else Hasbro  has planned - for the last two years, we've been treated to surprise exclusives on the day of the show.   You might not even know what you're missing when you're on the show floor.

SDCC 2018: The Force Awakens Exclusive

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, June 13, 2018

3596 We got a Rey in 2017 and an unmasked Kylo Ren in 2016, so in 2018 we get STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES CENTERPIECE REY (STARKILLER BASE) & KYLO REN.   The Centerpiece Rey is available here for the first time, and Kylo Ren appears to be retooled from previous releases.

The Rey is a Centerpiece, meaning lights are yes and articulation is no.  There's a misting system and a fancy light-up backdrop.  Kylo Ren has a uniquely expressive face, a torn shirt, and lots of articulation. Also snow deco.

The set is $109.99.  More images and the press info after the jump.

Star Wars Doctor Aphra Action Figure Set from Hasbro Debuts at SDCC!

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, June 6, 2018

3589 With three figures and a bit of sticker shock, this year's first (possibly only) 3 3/4-inch Star Wars Comic-Con exclusive in San Diego has been revealed!  Doctor Aphra is joined by 0-0-0 and BT-1 from Marvel's Doctor Aphra and Darth Vader comic books.  They're good fun, and those who read the stories have been requesting the Doctor and especially her droids for years.

The set comes in a vintage-era-inspired "Special" box, wrapped in that foil styling we're seeing on more convention exclusives as of late.   Pictures and Hasbro's press copy after the jump.  (Spoiler - it's $49.99.)

SDCC - Reveals Continue with The Last Jedi Star Wars Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 18, 2017

If you recall last year, Hasbro didn't announce its Jyn Erso exclusive until San Diego Comic-Con-goers were already on the ground.  This year, we may (because it wasn't officially announced yet) be seeing this Star Wars: The Black Series Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Jedi In Training Rey 2-pack as seen on the Jedi Insider today.   It hasn't been officially announced at all, but it does look a lot like official Hasbro photography.  More as we have it!

Commander Gree Coming to SDCC

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, July 6, 2017

3348 Debuting at San Diego Comic-Con at Entertainment Earth's Booth #2343, the Toys R Us Exclusive 6-inch The Black Series Star Wars Commander Gree is looking fantastic - it's just one of several items on sale there, including stuff from Twin Peaks, Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers, and Justice League.   Check it out, and get yours at the show!

SDCC Exclusives - Expect HasbroToyShop.com To Announce the Time Tuesday

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, July 25, 2016

Update: August 9!  Be there!

Correction: While we don't have a time or date yet, we're told to expect HasbroToyShop.com to post the date of sale for its remaining SDCC 2016 exclusives Tuesday.   This would include any remaining 6-inch Jyn Erso (standard figure with photos, unique packaging), Obi-Wan Kenobi (unique packaging and electornic accessory), and Rilo Kiley (Kylo Ren helmet, unmasked head, unique package, Vader helmet, base, flag).   At press time I do not have a confirmation that variant head Kylo Ren is or isn't coming out down the road - so you may want to keep reloading to get these, whenever that time may be.

No 3 3/4-inch figures were sold at the show.  (For Star Wars.)

Vote For Real - Fan's Choice Hasbro SDCC The Black Series

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 19, 2016

It's that time - you have to vote now, as that's the headline at StarWars.com's article Vote Now for the Next Black Series Figure!!    Darth Talon, Starkiller, Jaina Solo, Mara Jade, and Captain Rex all made 5 out of our Top 6 so I'm quite astonished to see that reflected on the official site's final voting.   I won't tell you who I voted for, but if you click here now you can see the current results when you place your vote.

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 6, 2016

We're back with Fan's Choice!  Hasbro has asked for your input on the next new action figure.  It's going to be just like last year - you can leave a comment below or email me at this address, (it's over) and I'll tally the results.   Like last year we got Sabine Wren and Darth Revan, this is your chance to vote for a future 6-inch The Black Series action figure.

Additional notes added July 7: Please do not request figures that have already been released or announced.  Please do not send duplicate entries.   Please do not send a list of characters - only one will be counted.

Here are the rules per edict of Hasbro:
