Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hasbro do that Grogu (The Book of Boba Fett, The Retro Collection) that they do so well!
This is a pretty clever idea for a product. It's a reissue of the obscure Kenner Dagoah training backpack, with a reissue of "The Child" and a frog from 2021. Since the wave never hit mass market retailers it can be tough to say if it sold well or not, but I rarely saw them on closeout shelves and odds are a lot of fans might want it just for the backpack. I think it's worth getting, but I generally like all of these a fair amount. Also I believe this is my last unreviewed Retro figure until the red dot ships their exclusive set around the end of the month. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: IG-12 with Grogu and Anzellan (The Vintage Collection Deluxe). Most likely in a store near you somewhere, the figure is $25 - and has a couple of little guys with it, and those aren't cheap to make. But it's also a retool of a figure you probably purchased for half the price a few years ago. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Scout Trooper (Speeder Bike / Epic Hero Series). This is a new release that's actually easy to find - most Target stores seem to be getting solid cases of just him. (But, oddly, not the Mando bike.) The figure is pretty good, with nice paint and a slick off-white coloring that looks sort of like the battle-worn armor on the show. It also includes a Stormtrooper blaster instead of the Bike Scout pistol, but it's still a neat figure with a nice toy bike. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian (Speeder Bike / Epic Hero Series). It's an actual toy! It comes with a bike that has wheels. He has elbow and knee joints. It's a big improvement over last year's figure, but I haven't yet seen this one on store shelves. His companion, the Imperial Speeder Bike, seems to be abundant at Target though. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Bo-Katan Kryze (Single, Epic Hero Series). The figure itself is identical to the version in a two-pack at Walmart with Moff Gideon, but this individually carded release has a unique accessory. Is it worth buying twice? Well, only if you're that kind of person. It's a good figure though, and it might be at a Ross near you for around four bucks - which is absolutely worth the wait in line. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mandalorian Warrior (Amazon Exclusive 3-Pack, Epic Hero Series) . This Amazon exclusive seems to be in stock and $1 off through that handy affiliate link, and while she's not completely perfect to the costume seen in The Mandalorian I haven't seen any other action figure toys of this character. I think she's great, and one of very few figures exclusive to Epic Hero Series. For that reason, you'll want this set. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Paz Vizsla (Amazon Exclusive 3-Pack, Epic Hero Series). This Amazon exclusive comes in a 3-pack with Axe Woves (new) and an unnamed Mandalorian Warrior figure. Paz Vizsla is identical to the Deluxe figure in stores near you - but without the jet pack or firing rocket launcher. You probably don't need both versions, but if you want all figures and all gear, you're going to have both. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Axe Woves (Amazon Exclusive 3-Pack, Epic Hero Series). This Amazon exclusive comes in a 3-pack with Paz Vizsla and an unnamed Mandalorian Warrior figure. Axe Woves is also made of retooled Boba Fett parts - hence why he's a little bulkier - but is still a decent looking toy figure. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cobb Vanth (Deluxe/Armor, The Vintage Collection). He's missing some paint on his legs, but the face is good, the armor is good, and as a solid packed case of 8 figures, he's probably going to be pretty common at US Target and Walmart stores this season. I've even heard isolated reports of markdowns already. Should you pick up the marshal of Mos Pelgo? Well, I did, I liked it. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Blurrg (The Vintage Collection). This is a pretty exciting toy, in no small part because it feels new. There was one in Mission Fleet but this is the first-ever 3 3/4-inch scale Blurrg. This one is from The Mandalorian, but you may remember it from The Clone Wars or Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. This may also be the single most interesting The Vintage Collection toy to come out for the rest of 2024.
It's sturdy, the articulation is good for a creature of this nature, and the paint is excellent. If you can find one, you should probably pick one up as we've gotten virtually no new creatures (or vehicles) in recent years, and this one is really fun. While it does come with another Mando figure - and we'll look at him shortly - it was also retooled to work with the creature, so at least it's a little different. Read on!
One of the quirks of this hobby as it grows is that licensors and licensees are seeking new audiences for all properties, all of the time. There are people who like Transformers but may not buy Optimus Prime or Dinoking, there may be people who really like The Mandalorian but don't want a LEGO set or an action figure. That's why Transformers Collaborative STAR WARS: The Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter exists. There were a line of Star Wars Transformers that kicked off about 18 years ago that went from mecha pilots to stand-alone guys in various sizes, and then the American market had a hard break.
So what's the deal with this new one? It's 7 1/2-inches tall and $54.99. That means it's roughly the size of a small Leader-class toy (so, not the Dinobots), or a large Voyager, or very close to the $89.99 Commander Class Optimus Prime toy. That means it's pretty big as most Collaboratives tend to be, and it's due next year. Also it seemingly sold out at Hasbro Pulse, but is still at Walmart. If history is any indication, Walmart stores may not necessarily stock it, and it may not necessarily be exclusive forever - Back to the Future Gigawatt eventually made the rounds, you can probably find TMNT Party Wallop in a store near you right now, and Ecototron wasn't half bad.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Bo-Katan Kryze (Walmart Exclusive 2-Pack, Epic Hero Series). This Walmart 2-pack is likely in stores now, and is different than the single figure - the 2-pack has a jet pack, the single has a blaster. It's a pretty nice figure, too, with a Beskar pauldron. Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian and Grogu (N-1 Starfighter Pack-Ins, Epic Hero Series). Since the figures are pretty much identical to previous releases, and the pair is bundled with a new jetpack and the new N-1 starfighter, you get two for one today. It's a good overall set for the money, assuming you want the ship, and you most likely do want the ship. Read on!
