Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,961: Darth Vader (Dark Times, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Vader (Dark Times, The Retro Collection). White what-if figure offers a cloth cape and a non-telescoping lightsaber, giving us a functionally very different Dark Lord of the Sith toy. Unfortunately the sculpting is the flattest of the wave, with some areas having less sculpted detail than the 1978 original. (But it's still really neat.) Read on!

Q&A: No Update This Week

Due to a lack of new questions, I have no update for you this week!  If you have  a point of clarification or a desire to be rambled at, feel free to Email me with Q&A in the subject line or I'll have to find something else to write about in this space on Mondays. Maybe Andor recaps, who knows.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,960: Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise (Custom)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 15, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise (Custom). It's a neat take on what could have been (or should have been) in the 1980s! The figure's helmet is painted a little off, the head looks pretty of-the-era, and the blaster is held at a weird angle - but it's a lot better than nothing. and is pretty good shelf eye candy. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,959: Amaulman (Custom)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, September 13, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Amaulman (Custom). It's mass-produced in China, but we're calling it a custom - this was made using new molds that also put out some Amanaman let's-say-replicas. The figure feels incredibly close to the original yellow and green figure, but the texture and detail on the staff are visibly changed if you have the real deal for comparisons. Otherwise, you'd probably be fooled into thinking it's the real deal - thankfully the Sith-colored figure makes it plainly obvious that this is not the genuine article. It's cool, but do you need it? Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,958: B0-B4 (Custom)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 8, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Day 2,958: B0-B4 (Custom/Fan-Made). It's a mass-produced custom, using new molds to make an old-style figure - and it's not licensed. So why are we looking at it? It's neat. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,957: Chewbacca (Prototype Edition - Orange Head, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, September 6, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chewbacca (Prototype Edition - Orange Head, The Retro Collection). Let's keep looking at 1970s- and 1980s-style action figures this week with a Crayola-infused Wookiee - Hasbro's fourth "prototype" release so far. He doesn't exactly deviate from the no-paint, many-colors pattern we've enjoyed but it's still fun to check out things like a bright yellow bowcaster and a Grinch-colored Wookiee-limb. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,956: NED-B (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 1, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,956: NED-B (The Retro Collection). Ned's about $12, and looks a little modern, but is he worth it? I think so - it's a new retro-style droid and we don't get a heck of a lot of those. He has a hammer! Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,955: Grogu (& Ahsoka Tano, The Vintage Collection Deluxe)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 30, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grogu (& Ahsoka Tano, The Vintage Collection Deluxe). "Grogu, his arms wide" sounds like a Tamarian metaphor, but it's just a Walmart exclusive accessory with a jointed head and not much else. It's great in the context of the set. Read on!
