Star Wars Micro Force - Meet the New Fighter Pods

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 18, 2018

Star Wars Micro Force Series 1Star Wars Micro Force Series 1

One of the fun things about the toy world is seeing an old idea come back in a new form. Hasbro's Fighter Pods lasted for four series between 2011 and 2013 before being given the axe, but not before spanning all six movies and The Clone Wars. There were blind bags there were exclusives, and the whole collection could fit in a shoe box with room to spare. It was also the only line with Ziro the Hutt - I was sad to see it go. But hey, it's back! Micro Force Series 1 brings back 12 molds from those series with deco and tiny sculpt changes, with series 2 coming in a few months with characters from the newer films.

I'm still putting together a set, but out of five packets I got eight different figures. And there are differences from Fighter Pods - check out most of them after the break.

Hot Wheels Fig Rig: $1 Car for Your Star Wars LEGO Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Did you know Mattel made a die-cast car that's compatible with LEGO figures? It's true!  The Hot Wheels Fig Rig is a new release from the company and likely at a store near you right now.  The hood has 2 studs for LEGO connections, there are two more in the truck bed, and several locations have 3mm bars on which figures can grip their hands.  And as luck would have it, a LEGO stud is the same size as the hole in most Fighter Pods figures.

Video Review: Star Wars Fighter Pods Hailfire Droid Launcher

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 20, 2013

If anything needs to be demonstrated in a short video with bad jokes, it's the Star Wars Fighter Pods Hailfire Droid Launcher.  It's a lot like the Republic Gunship launcher, except... uh... actually it really is a lot like that other launcher.  It sports 4 figures (2 random), 4 pods, and a launcher which is one of the two largest items created for this line of mini, just-small-enough-to-fit-in-your-nose figures.  (Please don't ask how this was confirmed.)  Want to see the video?  Sure you do.  It's after the jump.

Video Review: Star Wars Fighter Pods Republic Gunship Launcher

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 13, 2013

This is the second Republic Gunship in the Fighter Pods range, and it's pretty neat.  It's not as huge as the box makes it appear to be, but it has a clever launching mechanism and includes 4 mini-figures.  Two of these, Mace Windu and Kit Fisto, are exclusive.  But enough of me rambling - want to see it?  And a blind bag figure opening?  I've got both of these, for you, after the jump.

Video Review: Target Exclusive Special Edition Yoda Tin Fighter Pods Set

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, February 3, 2013

Here's a video review of a brand-new item that, 24 hours ago, I didn't even know was coming out.  The Target Exclusive Special Edition Yoda Tin Star Wars Fighter Pods Set is in stores right now and features Yoda, Darth Sidious, and a ton of Clones and Battle Droids in this Kashyyyk-themed set.  It's also the first new exclusive item to hit retail stores in quite some time.  For $24.99, it includes 18 figures, 4 pods, a Spinfire Launcher, and a tin.  And you can see me talk about these Revenge of the Sith-themed mini-figures after the jump.

Video Review: Target Exclusive Special Edition Darth Maul Tin Fighter Pods Set

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, November 5, 2012

It's on sale for a couple of  bucks off right now! The Target Special Edition Darth Maul Tin Fighter Pods Set should be widely available near you, and it's pretty good.  Eight of the figures are repacks from series 1, but there are several unique clone troopers, a metallic Darth Maul, and the first-ever figure of Ziro the Hutt plus some uniquely-shaped pods.  I won't lie to you, I happily paid full price for it just to get a Ziro.  Check out all the new little figures after the break.

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 3 Checklist

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, September 8, 2012

A few of you have written in asking which Fighter Pods were exclusive to the series 3 blind bags.  A good question!  But let's do you one better and give you a Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 3 Checklist!

Star Wars Fighter Pods Naboo Starfighter Shipping, Here's Another Video

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, September 8, 2012

The Naboo Starfighter Pack is the sole carded "vehicle pack" in Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 3.  (There's a boxed one too, so don't fret too much.)  It includes an exclusive Anakin Skywalker, Darth Maul, and Naboo Starfighter while introducing the new "Spinfire Launchers" which aren't half bad.  Despite the series being more than 50% repaints, the new elements are actually a heck of a lot of fun in this set.  See the video and figures after the jump... or don't.  Whatever.

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 3 Shipping, Bonus Horrible Video Review

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 6, 2012

Good news, everyone! Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 3 are here!  I got a box of blind-bagged figures the other day and made a short video highlighting the new packaging and new figures like Savage Opress, Ahsoka Tano, and Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise.  Several awesome new figures are included, as well as an obscene number of new holographic figures... including Jabba the Hutt.  Want to see more?  Check out the video after the jump.

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 2 Shipping, Horrible Video Review

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, June 20, 2012

The second batch of Hasbro's Fighter Pods, tiny blind-bagged and painted Star Wars figures, have started shipping.  Unfortunately the blind bags don't include checklists, nor do they include the online game codes promised on the bags. (There's a sticker covering this.) We got some.  Want to know more? Did you see the McQuarrie Concept Boba Fett Fighter Pods Figure that everybody needs to get? Click through for a list of characters (and a video with some nice close-ups) after the jump.
