Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,146: Luke Skywalker (RacerVerse)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 20, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Luke Skywalker (RacerVerse). I really like this one too - I've been seeing him at Target if you want to go see one in person, and he's worth the six bucks. Sure, there isn't a full X worth of wings, but it's a charming little toy and the kind of thing that's fun to scoot around on your desk. It's more of an actual toy than a toy-shaped collectible, so if you have kids or tracks or race little cars, absolutely go get one of these. And if you're sick of car that's OK, we have one more Friday and that's it. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,145: Millennium Falcon (Hot Wheels Carships)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, June 19, 2024

a href="http://figureoftheday.blogspot.com/2024/06/star-wars-figure-of-day-day-3145.html">Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Millennium Falcon (Hot Wheels Carships). I picked this one up at 99 Cents Only stores (RIP) a few years ago and opened it a couple of months ago. It's pretty nifty - basically they slapped a racing stripe on the Falcon and slapped a metal ship on a plastic sled with wheels. It's pretty good - if you have a launcher, it'll go pretty far with a slight nudge. It's also one of the faster cars I've got when I tried it in a downhill race, but wasn't fast enough to beat the Slave I Carships toy I got. Read on!

From 1977: The Star Wars Bar (with Real Masks) on The Richard Pryor Show

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 18, 2024

You've seen the original film, and maybe the Holiday Special... but how about The Richard Pryor Show? In 1977 the comic was given the masks, with which he mixed-and-matched costumes, to make a comedy sketch that shows some extended shots of many famous rubber faces. It also shows how cheap the masks were when not edited properly, but you'll see familiar faces like Pons Limbic (Brainiac), Momaw Nadon (Hammerhead), and Muftak - with pants and suspenders, no less. I don't know how "canon" any of this is, but remixed aliens are a fascinating thing and you can see them below.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,144: Princess Leia (RacerVerse Blockade Runner Tantive IV)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 18, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hot Wheels Princess Leia (RacerVerse Blockade Runner Tantive IV). It's Wheels Week, and this is the reason why - I saw her in a store and said "wait, what else have I missed?" It's basically a 1980s McDonald's Happy Meal toy, but with the quality of a Hot Wheels car, and also it's a ship you don't see as a toy very much. It's a winner. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,143: Han Solo (Twinduction)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, June 17, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hot Wheels Han Solo (Twinduction). It's Wheels Week, so let's go through my stash of cars and see what was sitting around - this one is not the best, but it has some nice graphics on the card and on the side of the car itself. Read on!

HasLab: Hasbro Says Take This Band and Cram It

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, June 14, 2024

...in a handy alcove of the Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Cantina Playset, now open for crowdfunding!  Apparently you can fit all seven Modal Nodes members - if you had the foresight to buy them, like any other good hoarder - in one of the many alcoves included in the set.  It's a little smaller than what we saw on screen through the magic of movie editing, but it looks like they fit.  It also looks like the set displays quite nicely in chunks, possibly giving you a better display option than having it all set up like you might build a movie set.  Check it out.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,142: Luke Skywalker (Epic Hero Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 13, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Luke Skywalker (Epic Hero Series). You can probably find him in a store now, and he's pretty good - he has a backpack for Grogu, and a lightsaber, and looks just like a decent toy. Get it if you have a few bucks. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,141: R3-RNBW (Pride Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R3-RNBW (Pride Collection). It's Pride season, and this is probably the most colorful droid we've ever been offered - there are a ton of individual paint applications and some extra gray squares I may not be hip enough to identify. Regardless, it looks cool - this little robot has colorful boxes, vents, and outlines all over and really stands out in a sub-category known for being pretty colorful. Should you get one? Well I would. Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars HasLab Revealed - Tonnika Twins (wrapped in a Cantina)

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, June 7, 2024

I kid with the headline, but we've been asking Hasbro for Brea and Senni Tonnika since Galoob made one in Action Fleet in 1997. Or I have, at any rate. They're two of the includes (along with Wuher) in Hasbro's STAR WARS The Vintage Collection Mos Eisley Cantina. The base option is $399.99, the deluxe option adds another chunk of booths for another $100 at $499.99, and there are three stretch goals - a Greedo (read below for more on him), Nabrun Leids, and a real shocker, the missing wolfman Arleil Schous.

Is it all worth it? Will this be in a question and answer format? When should you backfill your missing alien stash? Buckle up, this one gets long.   Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,140: Cad Bane (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 6, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cad Bane (The Retro Collection). Based on his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, this Kenner-style figure isn't quite as Kenner-y as some others - he more or less fits in, but lacks the detail and distinctive body language of the old guys. But it's a $12 Cad Bane, and he can stand and sit, and has a swell hat. Also he's one of the few figures where a vinyl cape might have been good to serve as a coat - but in this case, the coat is molded to the figure so it doesn't get in the way of him sitting in your old vehicles.
