Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,699: Luke Skywalker (Bespin, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 16, 2020

In case you missed him 40 years ago, Hasbro brought back Luke Skywalker (Bespin, The Retro Collection) this year. Will you find them? No.  But you can pretend it's out there somewhere, and that you're not more likely to find it at a garage sale once such things become safe again.   The figure has a couple of minor sculpt differences too.  Read on!

Star Wars Celebration 2020 Postponed to 2022

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, June 15, 2020

If you were planning on going to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in August... don't.   The convention posted an announcement confirming what you assumed - that the convention in two months is just not a viable thing this year.  Refunds or transfers are available if you bought a ticket, and if you didn't buy a ticket, keep up doing what you're doing.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,698: Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 11, 2020

It's not real Kenner, but it's close. The Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder, The Retro Collection)  is just the thing for your Mini-Rigs, assuming you still have some.   The figure has a blue lightsaber - which is kind of a big deal - as well as a grapple gun!  It comes in a board game you don't necessarily want, but you definitely want this figure if you're a fan of real vintage figures.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,697: Han Solo (Bespin, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 9, 2020

If you missed the first releases, this Han Solo (Bespin, The Vintage Collection) has a slightly better head!  That's an improvement.  The figure doesn't have the thigh cut joints we started seeing in 2016, but it's still pretty great.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,696: Imperial Probe Droid (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 4, 2020

While it was an accessory to a playset 40 years ago, the Imperial Probe Droid is an essential part of the collection today.  This more expensive, deluxe action figure has jointed arms, telescoping antenna, and a snowy base to keep it standing.  The glossy black eye is also a nice touch.  Do you need it?  (Yes.) Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,695: Luke Skywalker (Bespin, The Black Series 6-Inch, 40th Anniversary Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 2, 2020

A blast from the present!  This Luke Skywalker (Bespin, The Black Series 6-Inch, 40th Anniversary Collection) takes an early orange box-era figure that was pretty good at the time, and brings it into the present with an improved paint job and a new head.  You'll notice the lightsaber is also bluer.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,694: Anakin Skywalker (The Black Series 6-Inch, Archive)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, May 28, 2020

From last year - don't worry, we've got plenty of stuff from this year still - is Anakin Skywalker (The Black Series 6-Inch, Archive).  The figure was pretty great for the initial release, but the new face paint really make it sing.   (Articulation is still the same, though.)  Should you track him down?   Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,693: Han Solo (Hoth, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 26, 2020

Possibly new at Walmart near you, the Han Solo (Hoth, The Retro Collection)  is the Kenner-style figure you had or always wanted to put in your Tauntaun!   The remake is smoother than the original, but it's still pretty good with decent construction.  Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Retro Figures, Dioramas, RIP Zac Bertschy

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, May 24, 2020

This week in Q&A - Playsets! No news is good news? Retro Boba Fett! Did you miss something? Very possibly! And Busts! We love them. But they're just not as popular as they used to be. (And by that I mean collectible busts, generally people are doing fine with the regular kind.)

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, May 24, 2020

It was a rough week so I forgot to post that Figure of the Day: Day 2,692: Boba Fett (The Retro Collection) went up!  It's pretty great - the sculpt has a lot of minor differences from previous releases and hte colors are different too.  If you're an old-school variation hunter, this is a must-buy.  If you have ten bucks and want a figure that you can pretend is a real, old Boba Fett, you should get one too.  Read on!

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Last year's Disney parks release RA-7 Protocol Droid (Color-Changing Droids, Droid Factory Line Look) can be yours - if you find it for sale online somewhere.   The set is pretty good, but oddly this particular droid looks frosty when it's blue.   The black coloring looks great.   Read on!
