Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chopper (C1-10P, The Retro Collection). This is one of those figures you buy, open, and go "yeah, that's the stuff." Like R2-D2 of old, he has a clicky dome and a sticker. Unlike R2-D2, he has a removable third leg. If you were a Kenner kid, this is a must-buy figure - I'd say they more or less nailed it, except for the fact he's a hair too wide to fit in the old Y-Wing Fighter's droid socket. I would say it's one of the very best figures of the year, if you're in to this format.
UPDATE 6:28 PM PACIFIC: Zeb is now included and at 19,719 (and counting) with 2 1/2 hours to go, the Ghost is fully funded with all stretch goals.
In an impressive 11th hour showing, the Star Wars The Vintage Collection The Ghost is in the midst of a morning-ending surge of new orders. As of now (11:51 PM Pacific) it has 16,741 backers - that's twice the initial goal, and 259 away from unlocking the final stretch goal for Zeb.
The crowdfunding campaign ends today.
With few new vehicles announced other than some Speeder Bikes and Mando's N-1 Starfighter (pre-orders processing now), it might be a worthwhile addition to a room if you've got one. It's a big ship - bigger than Millennium Falcon-sized, if you're keeping track - so you'll want to be sure you make some space and sell some stuff down before it arrives. You won't, because you're like me, and also a procrastinator/hoarder.
Anyway, this thing ends at midnight Eastern / 9:00 PM Pacific. Do you dare take a third vehicular plunge? Secondary market prices for Razor Crest seem to be a little lower - you can find them in some local toy, collectible, and record shops - so I would be hesitant to recommend this ship as an investment piece in 2023. Of course, who knows what appearances it may have on a hypothetical current or future season of Ahsoka or a movie? I don't. So I ordered one, so I can play with it with the Kenner figures we know we're getting.
Better late than never! I've been speculating/predicting this for a couple of years, but at SDCC Hasbro confirmed the HasLab Star Wars The Vintage Collection The Ghost vehicle/playset. For $499.99, you get a ship that seems to be a little bigger than the big Millennium Falcon, the Phantom II, a slug/no-legs Chopper droid, and a carded Hera Syndulla figure. As I write this, it has just under 45 days to go and is 7,231 of 8,000 backers. But there's more to it than that.
Does it fit your old Star Wars Rebels figures? Sadly, I wasn't able to ask and am still catching up with con coverage - but Razor Crest and the Sail Barge were both designed with seats that work with Kenner-style action figures. So, let's hope.
Grand Admiral Thrawn is coming! I know, Thrawn just left the building in Star Wars Rebels, but a 6-inch action figure melding his classic novel cover look with the uniforms of Star Wars Rebels is on the way. A normal version is coming for retail stores, and his art collection comes with the deluxe San Diego Comic-Con edition. It's worth noting that the exclusive version will be $49.99 this July, while the normal The Black Series one will be in the usual $20-$25 range. Ask yourself this - why should your toys have a better art collection than you do?
It's Grand Admiral Thrawn! It's the first time he's been sold on an individual card this century, and it's his debut figure from Star Wars Rebels.
He has a holster, a blaster, and a giant rocket launcher - maybe it's not exactly what you saw on TV, but at least they got the blue right. And he has a nice paint job. And dark blue hair. Read on!
The Seventh Sister Inquisitor was shown last February at Toy Fair and started hitting stores about a month ago - along with another shirtless Darth Maul, as is the style at the time. She has a miniature droid, a lightsaber, and a removable face mask. She also has the ability to fall over and has eschewed such elements as foot peg holes. Want to know more? Read on!
In case you forgot, DisneyXD still has Star Wars Rebels and the season 3 premiere is hours away. And has Grand Admiral Thrawn. And StarWars.com posted details here if you ignored them earlier because you were too busy playing that AM2R Metroid remake game, and we totally understand.
Nerdist revealed a surprisingly early burst of looks at new Rebels and movie products which, no doubt, will be part of the Rogue One branded offering during the final months of 2016. Highlights include:
Hera's A-Wing (oooh)
Electronic 12-inch Kanan Jarrus
Electronic 12-inch Darth Vader
12-inch ROTJ Speeder Bike with Biker Scout
3 3/4-inch Jakku Rey in Scavenger Outfit
America's newspaper The USA Today posted this preview of the new 2016 Princess Leia Figure as based on Star Wars Rebels which, as should come as no surprise, is based on early concept art from the original movie. It is due this Fall, and I can't wait to buy one! Meanwhile, series stars Sabine and Hera remain elusive.
Also, there is no Lando Calrissian toy based on his appearances (voiced by Billy Dee Williams) on Star Wars Rebels.
Want to see a new trailer for the back half of season two of Star Wars Rebels? Yes, you do - but due to the very nature of advertising, it will show you things in these episodes which for some reason are now considered spoilers. I'd say just watch it, it's awesome.
In a headline that tells you everything you need to know, StarWars.com posted this: The Fight Against the Empire Will Continue in Star Wars Rebels Season Three.
The DisneyXD show will start year #3 in 2016. No word on what this means for the toys, but the show has certainly been fun to watch this season.
Hasbro adds Season 2 Rex and the second Inquisitor to their booth. These figures are slated for release in Spring 2016 along with Mission Series Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader. Rex features a nice removable helmet that perfectly on his bald and bearded noggin. Here's hoping a Season 2 Wolf is not far behind, although this figure will be probably require swappable heads.
If there's one thing you can bet on for Hasbro Star Wars in 2016, it's that you're gonna need a heck of a lot more room. We have uploaded photos featuring Hasbro's The Black Series 2016 reveals yesterday that include a couple of new Star Wars Rebels additions to the 6 inch assortment and a vehicle that can also serve as a coffee table or T.V. stand it's so freakin huge.
If you're so inclined, Amazon has Blu-Ray and DVD releases for Star Wars Rebels Season 1 up for grabs. DVD is currently $39.99, Blu-Ray is $45.99.
We're back! But just for this one - the season starts in the Fall. Star Wars Rebels kicked off season 2 on Saturday with the one-hour "The Siege of Lothal." Ahsoka's back, and we see Darth Vader being an incredible pilot. We meet Phoenix Squadron, we see the return of another familiar face from the original trilogy, and we also see the return of another government official who isn't quite ruthless enough for the new boss. Tarkin's specter looms large over Lothal, but we don't see him this week - that's OK, because Darth Vader keeps it real for the always Star Wars-y show on Disney XD. Darth Vader isn't afraid to sacrifice the pawns to get to the important pieces.
Read on for more! As always, spoilers follow.
