It's so hard to say goodbye, but Hasbro follows up on their plans to re-issue Vintage Collection action figures that were popular, like Starkiller and Shae Vizla, and others from 2012 waves (like more of the Red Kithaba variant). These are scheduled to distribute in February 2013, but based on recent sightings in the wild, some may be shipping to stores now.
The 2010 AT-AT was released to much fanfare and acclaim for its larger size, cool electronic action features, and movie inspired playability that outshone the older and oft used Kenner mold. A ToysRUs exclusive Vintage Collection Empire Strikes Back packaged version was also released during the holiday season of that year, and quickly sold out at a $110 pricepoint.
The exclusive AT-ST Crew and Ewok Scout Action Figure Sets are now available online for $14.99 each. Both are temporarily out of stock at the moment but keep checking back for restock since online is the only alternative for collectors in several geographic areas.
The K-Mart exclusive Vintage Collection Scout Walker (AT-ST) is now available online for $34.99 each. Online is the best way to get this vehicle for many collectors since K-Mart lacks presence in few areas.
You wondered what's underneath that helmet since Comic-Con and here it is, Presenting some loose shots of the new Royal Guard sans helmet and cape. Enjoy!
We've posted photos from today's Hasbro panel and booth. There are a few things to be excited about, including a TRU Vintage Slave I in 2013 and images of new Droid Factory and Clone Wars figures. Not much in terms of exclusives, but a new assortment of down-sized Class II vehicles to make them more affordable for the mommy market will surely cause debate.
Hasbro repaints 2009's awesome AT-ST mold, repacks it in a Vintage Collection box, and offers it up as a K-Mart exclusive. For $34.99, it's rightly priced without a figure compared to the $44 that included one with the Legacy Collection Wal-Mart exclusive. Are the superb Vintage packaging and enhanced deco enough to make you collect another Chicken Walker?
Hasbro may not have an exclusive for Celebration VI, but they still have something planned for their booth, including another Droid Factory Parts Swap. They also officially confirm the internet only exclusivity of Vintage Wave 7:
Out of all the scene specific Vader's, an "Emperor's Wrath" is probably one of the more symbolic in the saga. Perhaps this figure should have been badged as "Redemption" Vader, though it doesn't have as cool a tone. This is the third Force Lightning energized 'Wrath" Vader in the line (although "Emperor's Wrath" as a sub-moniker isn't mentioned on either card variant), the first as far back as 2000's Power of the Jedi. The Vintage Collection version includes a detachable hand, Force Lightning effects, and what's become a signature look for this scene specific figure; a transparent helmet.
Take a bow! Presenting some hi-res images of the upcoming final wave of The Vintage Collection featuring a new Royal Guard, Nien Nunb, Lumat, Clone Wars realistic Ahsoka and Obi-Wan, Republic Trooper, Prune Face, and Weequay along with four re-issued Discover The Force figures. We will miss you Vintage Collection; your silver and black nostalgic Kenner-ness, the fantastic sculpt and articulation, and the definitive versions of many characters. Don't be away too long!
Leia Organa in her glamorous Bespin gown has always been one of the princess' more ornate outfits in the saga. Her standard white color pallet was starkly disrupted during the Cloud City sequence and it was a great change of pace from a costuming standpoint. The figure renditions over the years have attempted to recreate the outer gown, from the vinyl cape of the classic vintage Kenner version to the more woven POTF2 Princess Collection that would be more appropriate as window dressing. For the 2012 Vintage Collection, you get two variant cardbacks with one paying homage to a "Lost Line" look to go with a nicely sculpted and articulated figure. But did Hasbro get the gown right?
