I will be hosting another panel at New York Comic Con! Come see new toys, plush, action figures, blind box toys, concept art, prototypes, and other stuff from over a dozen toy lines on Saturday, October 5 at 6:30 PM. Come to room 1C03 and I'm told there will be a freebie from Funko there too, so get there early.
There will be some mentions of Star Wars but there will be lots of other items from a number of big action figure collector lines you may find exciting. I'm not really supposed to share too much in case licensors pull something, but I would say it's a bigger variety of stuff compared to what we showed at San Diego.
They're back! Before Funko launched Pop! Vinyl, Hasbro captured lightning in a bottle with Mighty Muggs about a decade ago. We got Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Marvel, and Indiana Jones as just a few of the $10 chunky figures. Collectors and kids loved them, but Hasbro didn't want to farm the line out to more licenses, or keep it going, and just let it lapse. This is when Funko released Funko Force 2.0, which were renamed Pop! Vinyl figures and changed the toy world - the greatest toy trend was in Hasbro's hands, and by letting it languish, someone else one-upped them. But they're back! And they brought a cool action feature this time!
The big figures are in this season, so we're happy to see new guys and more importantly, new old guys. There are new movie characters, there are original trilogy characters, and one of my absolute favorites is getting a big upsizing! In today's reveals, you'll find 5 new 6-inch action figures which could be in your hands over the next year.
New stuff! While some of it may not look new - a revised Asty is appreciated, but we've got Asty - there are some other new things here to enjoy. Asty appears to have a removable helmet and a blaster, but you've got Asty. Probably.
Also returning is Maz Kanata with a snazzy jetpack. Previously exclusive to a 4-pack, this slightly modified figure gives you another crack at the character with some new gear.
Oh boy, new MicroMachines! Some of these are shipping now - 3 new 3-packs are part of wave 2 and I've already got them here on my desk. (2 X-Wings and a TIE, Falcon/Executor/TIE Bomber, ROTS Jedi Starfighter/ARC-170/Droid Tri-Fighter).
Other new entries include new blind bags and yes, new 5-packs. Do you want to see these? I certainly hope so, because I'm posting them for you regardless - I'm collecting these and I assume you are too. Do it.
What's this? Why, it's new Titanium Series vehicles! The A-Wing, Imperial Shuttle, Jakku Landspeeder, Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, Republic Gunship, Sith Infiltrator, and Star Destroyer are all here. (Some are returning champions.) They're all still quite cheap, thankfully, so you can get 'em in stores soon. Images after the jump.
We got 5 hi-res pictures from Hasbro! The First Order TIE Pilot, Snowtrooper, General Hux, Resistance Trooper, and Atsy (and not Han Solo) are all here, after the jump, for you.
Hasbro's busy! While we're not in New York, others are and we can link to their sites. Of note, ToyArk has shots of many new 6-inch figures and the Transformers sites are loading up on new Titans. (Titans are now, of course, very small toys - the Headmasters. Galvatron, Skullcruncher, etc. Great time to be alive, but I digress.)
For Star Wars, a 6-inch Han Solo is coming - as is Ello Atsy, a TIE Fighter Pilot, Hux, and others. Click here to see a gallery at ToyArk.
New York! I'm not there - but these figures are. Hasbro revealed 6 new 6-inch The Black Series action figures for all of us remaining loyal Star Wars fans. They are: Emperor Palpatine, Luke Skywalker, in Stormtrooper Disguise, Clone Commander Cody, IG-88, Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise, and the Clone Trooper Captain.
Ah, armchair reporting! It's great. Hasbro sent along a batch of photos of new Star Wars goodness from their "Twas The Night Before Party." In here, you'll find 3 3/4-inch Star Wars The Black Series C-3PO, Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise, Mosep Binneed, Commander Thorn, Han Solo in Carbonite, and a pair of Jawas! What's not to love?
In anticipation of Lucasfilm’s STAR WARS REBELS panel at New York Comic Con (Saturday, October 12, 2013; 2:45 PM 3:45 PM; Location: Empire Stage 1-E), Hasbro unveils the packaging treatment for its STAR WARS REBELS 3.75-inch action figure line supporting the upcoming animated series.
Hasbro revealed a few nice nuggets of plastic at this year's NYCC Preview Party. Aside from new iterations of Dagobah Luke and Yoda, we can expect Toryn Farr and a Snowtrooper Commander in the spring. Check out the official images and official announcement after the jump!
Hasbro's NYCC Preview Party is underway, and our friends at Jedi Temple Archives and Star Wars Action News have the scoop and photos. New reveals include the design of the Star Wars Rebels cardback, based on the forthcoming animated series, and new Black Series action figures featuring Wedge Antilles (Snowspeeder), a newly revisited Dagobah Luke and Yoda, a new Snowtrooper, and last but certainly not least, Toryn Farr.
Hallmark announces the "Wrath of Rancor" Keepsake ornament as their 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International (July 18-21) and New York Comic Con (October 10-13) exclusive. The piece commemorates the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi featuring Luke Skywalker's epic battle with the Rancor monster underneath Jabba's palace.
The big show is over and we've uploaded over an additional 100 photos for your viewing pleasure of the NYCC exhibit floor. I love browsing the dealer booths in hopes of finding a good deal on a few older or vintage pieces that I need in my collection, and while I don't have $60,000 in spare change to bid on a copy of Avengers #1, the looking and picking are always fun from t-shirts to posters, and of course, plastic.
