As we pass a little over the halfway point of 2014, many collectors are wondering if this has been the worst year of collecting ever. While we’ve had some highlights for The Black Series, especially in the 6 inch scale, one can’t help but feel that 2014 is more of a “placeholder” year. A transition period that came as a result of the dynamic changes for the franchise that came about in 2013 with Hasbro having to changeup strategy and make quick realignments of their resources for Episode 7. It sure seems that way with the scarcity of product since the beginning of the year. But based on what Hasbro previewed during their annual Comic-Con Star Wars Day panel, we have some good things to look forward to for the back to school/holiday season and Q1 of 2015.
StarWars.com updates their SDCC coverage with exciting news about the Marvel's future plans. Three new comics will be published including an aptly titled Star Wars ongoing series by Jason Aaron and John Cassaday (January), a Darth Vader ongoing series by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca coming next February, and a Star Wars: Princess Leia five issue mini-series by Mark Waid and Terry Dodson (March). All are canonical and will pick up where Episode IV left off.
Hasbro provides us with official photos of their 2015 reveals from yesterday's panel. Click here to check them out!
We have uploaded photos from Hasbro's Booth post panel with the exciting new 2015 reveals. While we experienced somewhat of a lull in 2014, Star Wars Rebels and this little flick coming out later in 2015 promises an avalanche of product next year. But in the meantime, Hasbro wows our attention and hits us with amazing new figures for The Black Series, Star Wars Rebels, and Saga Legends. Click here to view all the photos in our Image Bank!

Hasbro added a few upcoming items to their Comic-Con booth over the weekend. If you haven't had enough Jedi Starfighters, and I imagine most of you have, then you have two more "down scaled" versions to look forward to next February.
Gentle Giant came in with all hands on deck for this year's Comic-Con. With 9 exclusives and 4 being Star Wars, GG wanted to make a splash this year. Their other non-Star Wars licenses that include The Walking Dead and their proprietary Honey Trap line are doing phenomenally well. But an assortment that has been steadily growing and gaining more fans is their Jumbo Vintage Kenner line.
Right on the heels of today's SDCC Hasbro panel announcement, Amazon has posted pre-orders for their exclusive Droid Factory Build-A-Droid Figure assortment, The 6 figures consists of characters that were originally planned to be released for The Legacy Collection Droid Factory, but was
Angry Birds is a bonafide hit, and we're going to make another hit with Angry Birds 2: Telepods. That's the primary message Hasbro wanted to convey in today's SDCC panel. The Rovio app and mash up has been the highest rated Angry Birds game ever and reached the top of the charts in 115 countries. That's a pretty big accomplishment, and one that should enamor the franchise to a lot of younger fans, which has been their overall strategy.
We will be live tweeting our vague, incomprehensible, and often mispelled tweets (curse you iPhone spell checker!) for the Star Wars Collectibles panel at 11 am and Hasbro at 1 pm (Pacific Standard Time). Be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook, where our feeds will also stream.
