2012's Convention season is ending not with a whimper but with a bang! Star Wars Celebration VI starts in 10 days, but last weekend was also Wizard World's Chicago Comic-Con, and on this week's Star Wars Action News podcast Marjorie and Arnie run down both.
New for 2012, but old now, is the first-ever movie-specific Quinlan Vos figure. Based on a background extra, this presumed authentic release looks fantastic. Should you get one?
While not as new as some recently featured figures, Yoda is no less impressive! This tiny figure is more of a statue than an action figure, and he's super-cheap on eBay. The figure has an amazing paint job and, frankly, looks better than a lot of the movie Yodas out there.
It's the new Jek Porkins, just now arriving at Toys R Us stores! Part of a Yavin Pilot Pack, the figure is a little bit bigger than his fellow pilots but thinner than the 2000 figure.
Will Hasbro do crazy pull-back Star Wars vehicles for this line like they do for Marvel? Uhhh... why are you asking that? Are we going to talk about stock issues? I guess so. There's nothing else to ask about? And does someone really think Hasbro will get to putting out Malakili on a vintage card? I gotta say, I don't, but I ramble on about Ewoks this week so who am I to judge taste? Read on and send in your questions for an upcoming column!
Hasbro repaints 2009's awesome AT-ST mold, repacks it in a Vintage Collection box, and offers it up as a K-Mart exclusive. For $34.99, it's rightly priced without a figure compared to the $44 that included one with the Legacy Collection Wal-Mart exclusive. Are the superb Vintage packaging and enhanced deco enough to make you collect another Chicken Walker?
GHR has enjoyed my little break, but it's time to start hitting your local ToysRUs and K-Mart, hunters, as the new exclusives are out!
Hasbro may not have an exclusive for Celebration VI, but they still have something planned for their booth, including another Droid Factory Parts Swap. They also officially confirm the internet only exclusivity of Vintage Wave 7:
From our sponsors at Brian's Toys: Master Replica hilts and accessories have been restocked! Get the hard-to-find replicas such as the Obi-Wan Kenobi ANH Weather saber, Jedi Training Remote, or a Thermal Detonator!
The Rancho Obi-Wan Experience at Celebration VI will be selling memberships that will include a Celebration exclusive Yoda patch designed by Jerry Vanderstelt. It is the perfect companion patch for the Obi-Wan Kenobi patch that members have already received with their membership kit.
Here's the final wave of Star Tots characters that will be given away at Celebration VI, and lo and behold, I want that Blue Snaggletooth!
Former Disney artist Jason Peltz has created another creative marriage of two beloved franchises. From Jellystone to Jabba's Palace, these two have seen it all and they'll take on The Empire for a Pic-a-nic Basket. "Smarter Than The Average Smugglers" is a high quality limited edition run of 100 prints that will be available for 24 hours only and ends tomorrow morning at 8 am PST.
Celebration is in two weeks, and for collectors the time to prepare your shopping lists has come! The store list has been revealed, and pre-orders are being taken by Acme Archives and Gentle Giant. From T-Shirts to statues to jumbo figures, magnets, and more! On this week's Star Wars Action News podcast, Marjorie and Arnie run down the list.
This year at Comic-Con 2012 Super 7 had a bunch of surprises, two of which were 3 3/4-inch 1979-style Kenner Alien action figures, and the other was a stunning all-new wax pack of trading cards (pictured) with promo cards on olde tyme cardboard. And guess what? They're doing more at Celebration VI!
