Black Series

Toy Fair 2019 - Hasbro Star Wars: The Black Series

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, February 16, 2019

Star Wars: The Black Series! The 6-inch line showed very little you hadn't seen (or seen hinted at) before. The presentation had Doctor Aphra and her droids, plus the previously seen Chopper and Ezra Bridger. More surprising were 20th Anniversary Episode I "vintage" packaging for Celebration in Chicago.

Star Wars Archive Collection - 6-Inch Black Series Biker Scout Redeco/Reissue Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, October 24, 2018

3682 The Scout Trooper, better known to olds as the Biker Scout, was released with a Speeder Bike a few years ago as part of an ill-fated, but awesome, $40 figure-with-vehicle/creature packs.  These Archive Collection releases will be the first time you can buy this figure sans vehicle, but you may have one already.  You can add to your squad this way without buying more bikes if you're so inclined.  It's worth noting this figure has not been sold in a traditional box yet, so who knows if or when this will ever happen.

Star Wars Archive Collection - 6-Inch Black Series Anakin Skywalker Redeco/Reissue Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, October 24, 2018

3678 Continuing Hasbro's Archive Collection - a series of 6-inch action figure reissues of popular (expensive/rare) older The Black Series items - is Anakin Skywalker.  He has his Darth Vader Sith-infused-anger face too, and they're amazing.  The portraits are significantly better than they were a few years ago, so if you missed the orange box version you might actually be better off.  Anakin includes 2 heads and a lightsaber, and should be in a store online or near you - but let's be honest, probably online - in 2019.

Star Wars Archive Collection - 6-Inch Black Series Yoda Redeco/Reissue Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, October 24, 2018

3677 Once you go Black Series, something vaguely offensive here!   Hasbro will be slotting some redeco and reissue figures in, the first of which should be out in a few months.  They're carded instead of boxed, and some have enhanced facial paint applications.  You've already seen Boba Fett, X-Wing Luke, Bossk, and IG-88, but now you can see Yoda.

NYCC 2018: Star Wars The Black Series Marvel Action Figures for 2019

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, October 7, 2018

3672 After debuting as 3 3/4-inch figures, Hasbro now has 6-inch versions for you on the horizon!  Doctor Aphra will be jointed by 0-0-0 and BT-1 in summer 2019. That's a long ways off, but at least we know they're coming.

For the uninitiated, these characters are found in the pages of Marvel's Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra comic books.

Clear some space and check out these new photos!

NYCC 2018: Star Wars The Black Series Exclusive Action Figures for 2019

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, October 7, 2018

3668 In 2019, Target will get a new version of Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper Disguise - note the slicked-back hair.   Slickback emeritus come complete with helmet, communicator, blaster, and what may well be some sort of sewage deco.  Delicious.

Joining him is GameStop's Rocket Trooper, which you probably also don't recognize.  The classic Stormtrooper body got a new helmet and a few other modifications for its release next year.

NYCC 2018: The Black Series 6-Inch Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, October 4, 2018

3651 Hasbro didn't have a lot new to reveal at New York Comic Con so far, but we got a few new shots of things you might have missed.  A deluxe General Grievous will join an utterly stunning Walgreens Exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi from Clone Wars, 2003-style.  (Nicely done, Steve, I'm jealous.)  Both are 2019 items - expect Grievous in the first half and Kenobi late in 2019.

Toy Fair Gallery - Hasbro Star Wars Black Series 6-Inch Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, February 17, 2018

3512 Uploading pictures takes a while, and there are a bunch of them.   New The Black Series action figures include: Gamorrean Guard (Target exclusive), Astromech Droids R5-D8 & R2-X2 & R2-D2 (Amazon), Hoth Leia, Commander Wolffe (Gamestop/Disney/Barnes & Noble shared), Zuckuss (Toys R Us), Skiff Guard Lando, Han Solo, Qi-Ra, Lando Calrissian (Solo), Tobias Beckett, Range Trooper, and a Mimban Stormtrooper (Walmart).  That's a lot of stuff.

The Porg 2-pack is a value-priced item.  Available very, very soon. (Very soon.)

Toy Fair Gallery - Hasbro Star Wars Black Series Prop Replicas

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, February 17, 2018

3510 Hasbro has two new "prop" toys this time around.  One is a giant Darth Vader helmet replica, and it's huge.  It was displayed in a big round glass case, but the actual toy will come in a black cardboard box.

The other toy is The First Order's Riot Baton, used by Stormtroopers in the sequel trilogy.  It expands, flips, spins, and is generally awesome.

Presumably you'll want more pictures, and we do have some of those after the jump.

Solo: A Star Wars Story The Black Series Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, February 14, 2018

3476 The subtext of Solo: A Star Wars Story seems to be that this is clearly Childish Gambino's year.  I don't care what the movie title is, this is the Lando movie and the very first official Donald Glover Lando Calrissian reveal is in the 6-inch action figure line.  It's awesome.   (Are you watching Atlanta?  You should watch that.)  But I digress - the figures will follow the same pattern as usual.  Will new figures slip out early thanks to the same assortment running since 2015?  It's possible!  But here's what Hasbro has to say:

Walgreens Exclusive Spirit of Obi-Wan Already on Sale?

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, November 15, 2017

3463 The new Star Wars  Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) hit in September, and our pal Phil is already finding them for $14.99!  I haven't even seen these in all stores in my area yet, but they are making the rounds.   In most major cities you can throw a rock and hit a Walgreens, or two.

If you're lucky you might also find some basic figures from the newer waves next to this Force Spirit.   Happy hunting!

NYCC 2017 - Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series 6-Inch Action Figure Reveals

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, October 6, 2017

3428 The big figures are in this season, so we're happy to see new guys and more importantly, new old guys.    There are new movie characters, there are original trilogy characters, and one of my absolute favorites is getting a big upsizing!    In today's reveals, you'll find 5 new 6-inch action figures which could be in your hands over the next year.

HasCon - Star Wars The Black Series Prototypes for the Landspeeder

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, September 10, 2017

3416 I had some time, so I threw up some more prototype pictures of the Landspeeder.  Maybe you didn't see them, maybe you did, but here they are again with more angles.   A panel for The Black Series was rescheduled from the web times, and I caught a livestream of it.  As far as I can tell, there were no product reveals in the stream - so let's gawk over this Landspeeder some more!

HasCon - Star Wars 6-Inch The Black Series Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, September 8, 2017

3398 Since a lot just came out, there wasn't a ton of newness in the 6-inch range at HasCon.  Star Wars fans may drool over a Landspeeder prototype, unpainted and marked up with where the paint would go later.  It's gorgeous.  You can also see Snoke plus the Force Friday offerings, after the break.

HasCon - Star Wars 40th Anniversary Collection and The Black Series Diorama-Rama

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, September 8, 2017

3387

You may have seen this from San Diego Comic-Con, but it was mobbed by people in a tight booth.  At HasCon, there was more space between things, so you don't have to worry about being crushed alive from all sides while trying to look at an action figure.  Also notable, many figures in the diorama were customized and a Luke Stormtrooper has an alternate, wet head.   I was unable to find out if it's coming out or was just a thing for the booth, but the important thing tonight is that you can see it after the jump.
