Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,996: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 19, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series). It's a pretty good figure of a twerp of an interpretation of the character! The head isn't too perfect, but he has a nice cape, decent armor, and good articulation. The make-up doesn't quite match the series, and that make-up doesn't quite replicate the look of the species as seen previously. But it's available, you can buy it. Read on!

16bit.com Review: Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 18, 2023

Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action FigureOver at 16bit.com Figure of the Day I look at newish and old action figures three times a week! They're very rarely Star Warsy, but this one is close enough to share here.

I just got this retro-Kenner-esque Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure and it's great. The new head works with old figures too, and it seems like the kind of thing Kenner would make if Star Wars action figures continued without new movies in the 1980s. It sold out, and I suggest getting one (or a future repaint) if it is possible to do so. Do read on, and stay tuned for whatever the next recolor may be!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,995: B2EMO (Droid Factory / Disney)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 17, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: B2EMO (Droid Factory / Disney). It's basically a very good accessory for the price of a complete figure, but it's a droid, and it's a neat one that sold out online while I was sleeping. So naturally, you want one, probably. Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Warnings, Readership, and the occasional Detour

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 15, 2023

This week in Q&A - A disaster! Is it something you can see a mile away? Also are people reading this site anymore? Well, yes, but they're certainly not asking questions. Also Detours, since apparently it was hiding in plain sight.

Be sure you send in your questions for next week. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

ICYMI: Star Wars Detours Dog Day Afternoon

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 15, 2023

While it leaked a few years ago, I had a hard time finding Star Wars Detours "Dog Day Afternoon" which featured Andy Richter and "Weird Al" Yankovic as 4-LOM and Zuckuss. A pal of mine messaged me over the weekend with a link - and sure enough, it's there! It's only 6 1/2 minutes, but it's interesting to see an alternate future where the franchise could have descended into intentional self-parody. Check it out over at Archive.org while you can.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,994: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 12, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection). More of the same, but different, and at a premium price! This figure includes a lot of gear like Whistling Birds and a removable wrist rocket, and fire, and the Beskar spear. And a pistol. It's probably the most fleshed-out Mando yet, but he's in an expensive boxed set. But he's probably the best. Read on!

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 11, 2023

Over at Orbitdyne, Making a Cantina - Part II shows a much larger, more robust set with booths, a full bar, glow-in-the-dark elements, and electronic internal lights. And a sticker door. It's incredible - and you should check it out.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,993: NED-B (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 10, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: NED-B (The Black Series). He's got a lot of painted detail, he's really big, and he's kind of expensive. But you get a hammer and a blaster! He's still $8 more than a normal figure, but is he good at any price? Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Shrinkage, Wild Predictions, and Repaints

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 8, 2023

This week in Q&A - Shrinkage! Are you concerned that the figures you see may not be all that, and more? Also Overkill and abundant ramblings are fun, aren't they?

Be sure you send in your questions. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,992: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 5, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Vintage Collection). You get a lot of stuff - two micro droids, a blaster, two lightsaber pieces, a cloak - but the head is a smidgen off, and I really hate that mid-torso joint. Arguably, you get your money's worth in this price increase world but wouldn't it be better to have a slightly simpler figure at a lower price? Read on!

Love Dewbacks? Meet the Mudbelly Wild Type Soft Vinyl Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 4, 2023

UPDATE: Sold out!  But follow them on Instagram so you can find out whatever it is they plan to do next.

Reader Timothy pointed out this neat unlicensed/fan item Mudbelly "Wild Type" Soft Vinyl Figure from Garden State Kaiju. The 5-inch soft vinyl figure is $35.00 and looks a lot lke Kenner's original Patrol Dewback toy from the 1970s.

Custom: 3-D Printed Spacebar Is Like the Cantina, But Not

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 4, 2023

Friend of the site Seth Longmire has been working on a 3 3/4-inch scale bar for action figures that's a mix of old 1970s colors and modern 2020 production techniques. You can read about it at Making a Cantina - Part 1 where the orange 3-D printed prototype can be seen.

I've seen a bit more of this item's progress and I can tell you it's pretty spectacular, and designed to fit in a DETOLF (so far.) You'll want to keep an eye on this one if you have a lot of properly scaled action figures. And if you don't, there have been some really good ones lately.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,991: Mandalorian Super Commando (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 3, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mandalorian Super Commando (The Vintage Collection). A previous figure mold has returned, with new detail and one heck of a big blaster. You may not need more 6-inch Mandalorians, but can you ever have enough different 3 3/4-inch ones? I sure can't. Read on!

Q&A: The End of Big Star Wars and Disasters

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 1, 2023

This week in Q&A - Prototype nightmares! Do figures look better pre-release? Also come on down to the Big Figs. Jakks Pacific made giant figures that filled a much-needed void in the toy world, or at least, that's how it feels in 2023. What happened?

...so of course I'll go on a ramble about retro stuff to fill some space.

Be sure you send in your questions for 2023. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!
