Q&A: A Crisis of Star Wars Scale, High Pricing Is the New Distribution Problem

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 29, 2023

This week in Q&A - A tax upon them! Is it just Boba Fett? Also a spectrum of infinite scales - why are so many action figures too big, or too small, to be compatible?

Be sure you send in your questions. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

Retro Figure, Retro Pricing - $5.49 Boba Fett at Amazon

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, January 27, 2023

If we cannot be free, at least we can be cheap. Amazon has Star Wars Retro Collection Boba Fett (Morak) Toy 3.75-Inch-Scale The Mandalorian Collectible Action Figures on sale for $5.49 which, adjusted for inflation, is still a preposterously cheap price.

Heck, $5.49 shipped is a pretty good price just to steal his blaster for your old Boba Fett figures.

This is one of my favorite figures out of Hasbro in recent years, and I'd say if you still buy from Amazon it's worth their selling it too cheaply for you to get one. Click here to check availability.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,998: Darth Maul (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 26, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Maul (The Black Series). This is a pretty excellent figure - the facial expression is superb, the head spikes are spiky, the outfit is good, and the articulation is great. If you like this costume, this is a very good figure of it. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,997: Migs Mayfeld (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 24, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Migs Mayfeld (The Black Series). He's Bill Burr, but with lots of guns and a good recreation of his on-screen, The Mandalorian season one costume. I'd say buy it, and I'm cranky and old. Read on!

Q&A: Why No Star Wars Classic New Retro and Syngery Problems

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 22, 2023

This week in Q&A - Why are there no new retro retro figures? Does Lucasfilm and/or Hasbro hate us? Also Why aren't we getting follow-through on the new stuff? It looks like it's sort of impossible to get this right.

...and 2023 if off to a slow start, but I am OK with that.

Be sure you send in your questions for 2023. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

Cool Custom Bar for Retro Action Figures (and old ones)

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, January 21, 2023

UPDATE: It sold out.

Your pal and mine Seth Longmire has been working on some fun retro-style 3 3/4-inch playsets to go with the myriad retro, old, vintage, indie, and other action figures we all own. His PROTOTYPE Mini Space Bar - Custom 3 3/4" Action Figure Playset is up on Etsy now - it's orange and should fit pretty much any old-school 3 3/4-inch Kenner style figure. There's no Kenner-flavored Wuher to be had, but surely Guinan needs to do something between tours of duty. Check availability here - also a bigger, more luxe version is on the way.

Healeymade No. 39020 (second shooter) Pre-Orders Live

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, January 21, 2023

While not licensed, this No. 39020 (second shooter) is a WWF-esque take on Greedo. A painted Japanese vinyl figure, pre-orders are now open for $70.00 a pop. (That's a lot more than his PVC figures, which tend to be $20-$25.) If you like wrestling and Kenner toys, this might be just the thing for you - or not, what do I know? Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,996: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 19, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series). It's a pretty good figure of a twerp of an interpretation of the character! The head isn't too perfect, but he has a nice cape, decent armor, and good articulation. The make-up doesn't quite match the series, and that make-up doesn't quite replicate the look of the species as seen previously. But it's available, you can buy it. Read on!

16bit.com Review: Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 18, 2023

Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action FigureOver at 16bit.com Figure of the Day I look at newish and old action figures three times a week! They're very rarely Star Warsy, but this one is close enough to share here.

I just got this retro-Kenner-esque Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure and it's great. The new head works with old figures too, and it seems like the kind of thing Kenner would make if Star Wars action figures continued without new movies in the 1980s. It sold out, and I suggest getting one (or a future repaint) if it is possible to do so. Do read on, and stay tuned for whatever the next recolor may be!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,995: B2EMO (Droid Factory / Disney)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 17, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: B2EMO (Droid Factory / Disney). It's basically a very good accessory for the price of a complete figure, but it's a droid, and it's a neat one that sold out online while I was sleeping. So naturally, you want one, probably. Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Warnings, Readership, and the occasional Detour

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 15, 2023

This week in Q&A - A disaster! Is it something you can see a mile away? Also are people reading this site anymore? Well, yes, but they're certainly not asking questions. Also Detours, since apparently it was hiding in plain sight.

Be sure you send in your questions for next week. The mailbag is out of questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

ICYMI: Star Wars Detours Dog Day Afternoon

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 15, 2023

While it leaked a few years ago, I had a hard time finding Star Wars Detours "Dog Day Afternoon" which featured Andy Richter and "Weird Al" Yankovic as 4-LOM and Zuckuss. A pal of mine messaged me over the weekend with a link - and sure enough, it's there! It's only 6 1/2 minutes, but it's interesting to see an alternate future where the franchise could have descended into intentional self-parody. Check it out over at Archive.org while you can.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,994: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 12, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection). More of the same, but different, and at a premium price! This figure includes a lot of gear like Whistling Birds and a removable wrist rocket, and fire, and the Beskar spear. And a pistol. It's probably the most fleshed-out Mando yet, but he's in an expensive boxed set. But he's probably the best. Read on!

Custom Development 3-D Printed Spacebar - A Much Bigger Retro Cantina

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 11, 2023

Over at Orbitdyne, Making a Cantina - Part II shows a much larger, more robust set with booths, a full bar, glow-in-the-dark elements, and electronic internal lights. And a sticker door. It's incredible - and you should check it out.
