Via Hallmark: Star Wars™ Darth Vader™ Vintage Figure Ornament . Yes, that does indeed look like a carded Kenner action figure, with no weathering or funky stickers, that you hang on a tree. (True story, this is how my parents gave me a few of my figures on Christmas.) It's $22.99 and measures 3 x 4.5 x 0.7 inches... so you might want to just buy a Star Wars The Retro Collection Action Figures Set of 6, which includes Vader as well as an additional five figures.
The Lucasfilm Pavilion was a plethora of activity as usual at Comic-Con, and while Disney-Lucas is reportedly planning on "thinning the herd" for their licensors, that doesn't appear to be the case yet. The focal point was on Disney XD's soon to be televised Star Wars Rebels series. Traditional exhibitors such as Her Universe, eFX, and Hallmark showed their latest and greatest. The Yoda puppet replica from eFX looks amazingly accurate and Hallmark, as usual, sells out of their convention exclusives, but gave a sneak peek of this year's Keepsake collectibles. New licensors such as Peavey with their awesome new Star Wars guitars, Vans, and Jakks with their jumbo plastic figures also were present.
Hallmark announces the "Wrath of Rancor" Keepsake ornament as their 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International (July 18-21) and New York Comic Con (October 10-13) exclusive. The piece commemorates the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi featuring Luke Skywalker's epic battle with the Rancor monster underneath Jabba's palace.
Autumn in New York is a beautiful thing. For fans of pop culture, the season brings their own east coast Comic Con. It's Preview Day, and because it's in Mid-Town Manhattan on a Wednesday, the foot traffic was not the critical mass that San Diego normally is. For this website, not having to cover Hasbro on a show of this magnitude is a little weird, but Hasbro's absence are DC and Mattel's gain, particularly if you're a Batman fan and collector where new figures from DC Direct and Arkham City were prominent. There were some Star Wars reveals from other licensors like Kotobukiya and Diamond Select, and they're not bad at all. But Gentle Giant and Sideshow were also absent and there was clearly less Star Wars than the show last year.
It's October and that means that the Holidays are only right around the corner. Hallmark stores have received two new Keepsake ornaments featuring a cool "Santa" Darth Vader Peekbuster and a LEGO Stormtrooper.
We have uploaded photos from the eFX, Hallmark, and Acme Archives booths at Comic-Con. eFX previewed their forthcoming The Old Republic and Starkiller lightsabers. Acme Archives unveiled the latest Christian Waggoner masterwork featuring a Sandtrooper that the artist painted during the show.
There's a Hammerhead waiting to be "hung over" your tree, and he's available in limited numbers beginning July 14th at your local Hallmark store.
That Galactic Hunter Christmas Tree is nearly complete as Hallmark announces the follow up to their Dengar and IG-88 exclusive Keepsake Ornaments from 2011. 4-LOM and Zuckuss will be offered as this year's Comic-Con International exclusive.
Hallmark reveals their Keepsake Ornaments for 2012 which include Han Solo to the Rescue, a TIE Interceptor, Darth Vader Peekbuster, General Grievous, and a Sith Apprentice Darth Maul.
