Action Figures

Image Bank: Mos Espa Arena (Discover The Force)

By Mike — Monday, January 30, 2012

This set as a whole is not bad. The not fully assembled Episode I C-3PO, while lacking the 14 points of articulation we see as standard today, is as solidly sculpted and painted now as it was back in 1999. The only drawback is that he can't hold the included Anakin Podracer flag as he should be able to. The Power of the Jedi Sebulba (Boonta Eve Challenge) sculpt is good enough and Anakin Skywalker, from 2000's POTJ "mechanic" figure, is marginal for what he is due to the limited articulation. This Anakin mold is also used for the Target 2 Pack exclusive, with the "dirtier" variation for this Battle Pack.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,729

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, January 30, 2012

This ARC Trooper figure from 2005 is incredibly cheap, and Hasbro's most Fordo-y ARC Trooper.  If you can't afford it on eBay, odds are you can't afford internet access.  Take advantage of the down market and get one.  Read on, too!

Image Bank: Royal Starship Droids (Discover The Force)

By Mike — Sunday, January 29, 2012

Walmart appears to be the retailer of choice for exclusives in 2012 with their "Discover The Force" campaign. Each Hasbro Star Wars merchandise includes a pair of 3D glasses and a 3D image on the packaging to share the concept with the TPM re-rerelease. The Royal Starship Droids aren't entirely new but it is a great Battle Pack that evokes one of my favorite scenes in the film which re-introduces R2-D2 as always saving the day.

Movie Heroes Wave II Photos

By Mike — Sunday, January 29, 2012

The guys at Rebelscum have posted some fantastic photos of the new Movie Heroes Wave II. These have reportedly been found in Canada, thus the variant cardbacks. A few quick hit observations are the great facial likenesses of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Anakin grew a few inches since becoming a Padawan, and the light up sabers look absolutely stunning. On your weekend hunt (and if you're not, you should because stuff is out and the time is NOW), keep an eye out for the 2 Movie Heroes Battle Droid variations. One is the Episode I Naboo version (cream) and the other is Episode II Geonosis red. Both are available on the pegs but it appears the red one is more available for now.
