Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,421

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, November 24, 2010

What's red and shot in the heart?  Why, this red Clone Trooper officer!  What a nice figure.  It uses the 2003 body with special deco that, so far, has not returned in the line.  Should you track it down?  Read on!

This figure is going on almost 5 years and still looks good.  Our favorite misfiring Rodian barfly was first released in 2006 as part of the Vintage Ultimate Galactic Hunt for The Saga Collection. He comes with a blaster and a cache of "secret" weapons he'll most likely never need.

The Gand bounty hunter was also released in 2010 as a Celebration V exclusive Zuckuss/4-LOM Vintage 2 pack. This version was released last year as part of The Legacy Collection/Build A Droid assortment and given an all new sculpt. While the soft goods skirt had some critics, the figure was superbly sculpted and well received overall.

In the year of the bounty hunter, the Saga Legends assortment begins with three of the ESB 6 with Dengar, 4-LOM and Boba Fett being part of the new Vintage Collection. IG-88 was originally released in 2007 as part of the Saga Vintage Collection. He is refreshed for Saga Legends at a lower pricepoint but maintains the excellent sculpt and likeness of the previous release without the premium cost.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,420

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, November 23, 2010

One of the dangers of toys from video games is the game may not be done before the toys are, so the Secret Apprentice looks nothing like Sam Witwer, really.  (Although it's arguably no more off than most Han figures are from Harrison Ford.)  How does this 2008 release stack up now that the sequel is out? Read on!

The Trandoshan bounty hunter saw his best figure yet in the 2007 Vintage Saga Collection release. So it goes without saying that his Saga Legends re-release is a welcome one amongst collectors because he's cheaper and comes with all sorts of additional weaponry (with only the grenade launcher specific to the character), a figure stand, and the Galactic Battle Game playability. Although the cool vintage card from '07 may trump all the other extras for some of you, with this figure getting cheaper for all the holiday deals,  open one up and appreciate Hasbro's handy work if you haven't already.

New Clone Wars Battle Pack Revealed

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, November 22, 2010

Our sponsors got a new  Star Wars Army of the Republic Battle Pack up for order, with official pictures from Hasbro. This looks like to be a mix of white and colored Clone Troopers, plus accessories.  Neat!  More after the jump.

By Mike — Monday, November 22, 2010

Seen in the premiere episode of Season 2, "Holocron Heist", Cato Parasitti shares the same Clawdite heritage as one Zam Wessel and shapeshifts her way into the Jedi temple. Her well sculpted and finely painted figure includes a molded helmet with a movable visor.

By Mike — Sunday, November 21, 2010

From the super intense and action packed "Landing at Point Rain" episode from Season 2, Clone Trooper Draa bears distinct markings as a member of the 41st Elite Corps. While the figure is a repainted version of the basic  Clone Trooper mold and comes with several weapons and accessories including a missile launcher and backpack.

By Mike — Saturday, November 20, 2010

MMMM…BRAINS! This Season 2 storyline about zombie Geonosian Warriors had that sci-fi horror twist to it and “jumping the shark” potential, but it somehow worked. With removable wings and body parts, the figure has nice pose and play ability, but the cool factor would have been upped a notch if Hasbro somehow could have included a brain worm accessory.

Image Bank: CW33 Embo

By Mike — Saturday, November 20, 2010

Inspired by Kurosawa, the samurai-esque Kyuzo bounty hunter Embo includes an articulated bowcaster, throwing knives, a boatload of paint detail, and plenty of bushido spirit (or is that boshuda?). The excellent “Bounty Hunters” episode in Season 2 had plenty of nods to Seven Samurai, which in turn was one of Lucas’ inspirations for Star Wars

More Photos From Hasbro 2010-2011 Attack of the Clones Bridge Wave

By Adam May — Friday, November 19, 2010

Hasbro has sent over some carded photos of the 2010-2011 "bridge wave" from Attack of the Clones (the last "themed" wave) included in The Vintage Collection. (Missing in action is the Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise) figure, but he'll undoubtedly surface at the last minute to save the day — or something.) What do you think of these modern/retro cardbacks (and logos)? Comment away...
