From the Mission Series line, here's Luke Skywalker (Hoth)! He's got Wampa damage and is a pretty good modern update to the original 1982 Kenner action figure. I've been seeing a few of these in stores this week, so I'd suggest getting while the getting is good and the pricing isn't increased. Read on!
Why pay for a hotel when you can go to Celebration VII free while you're at work?
StarWars.com updated with a feature explaining that you can watch a number of panels live from your computer. Or if you're one of the very young and hip, your "phone." Obviously you're denied the exclusives, the costumes, the lines, and new adventures in what qualifies as food, but you can see some of the fun at home. (Memo to Comic-Con in San Diego: copy this.)
If you like designer toys - and I know you do - you'll want to visit the Glyos News Dump blog for a post I wrote called " C2E2 The Godbeast C2E2 2015 Offerings." A limited run of figures nodding to things you know and love will be on sale from Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen at the Nerd City booth. He does great stuff, and I've picked up some of his other offerings over the years.
We looked at the 6-inch version last week, so today we'll look at the new Mission Series 2015 Han Solo (Hoth) action figure, hitting pegs and online shelves now. It comes with Luke and for the asking price, it's amazing. However you'll immediately lament the loss of trapdoor Tauntaun toys, and hopefully Hasbro will consider making a new one for us - because, let's be honest, that'd be pretty awesome. Read on!
In the post Star Wars Celebration 2015 Super Shogun Exclusives!, Funko shows that they are indeed bringing the long, long-gestating jumbo figures inspired by Shogun Warriors to plastic life once again. This redeco of the Stormtrooper is a swell addition to any spacious house, while the Kenner-deco Boba Fett is another fine delight which I will no doubt cry myself to sleep over not owning. Such is life. Click here to read more and see the pictures.
Today, let's look at Luke Skywalker (Stormtrooper Disguise) in Figure of the Day! This one looks better in person than in the close-up shots as the head goes, but he’s normal Stormtrooper height with a helmet that’s a smidge too tight. Want to know more? Read on!
This week in Q&A: We look at convention stuff - what's fun to see? And future figure prospects - are we competing ourselves into the end of the super-articulated line? And finally, let's talk Star Wars ReAction Retro Figures because this tends to come up a lot.
Don't forget to send in your questions for next week. Read on!
Hey kids, it's Hera Syndulla! This green, orange, and brown figure looks like it might fit right in with some of your existing pilots, plus she comes with a swell Stormtrooper Commander figure too. You don't have one, so get this one. Read on!
The 20th Century Fox fanfare by one Alfred Newman is an identifiable part of the Star Wars experience. Much like the lightsaber, the Force, and the big floaty yellow space words this quick clip of music opened the entire saga over the course of the previous three decades and change as both a throwback and as a signal to the future that something really exciting was coming. But history movies forward, legends change, and corporations must make decisions between being good stewards of our culture and the needs of a good branding opportunity.
And now, back to Mission Series. This new Princess Leia is the first toy of this costume to be sold outside of a boxed set in nearly a decade, meaning she'll probably blow off the shelves in a hurry. Don't miss this one! Read on.
Today in Figure of the Day: the 6-inch Han Solo and Tauntaun! This is a great one. You should get one. It's a new sculpt across the board, and Han looks a lot like the just-releases Mission Series set too. Check it out, read on!
Gentle Giant also revealed this General McQuarrie Celebration VII Exclusive Mini Bust for the upcomiing Star Wars Celebration VII. This one is based on Ralph McQuarrie's mostly missed cameo in The Empire Strikes Back which was pointed out to most people when Hasbro up and made it into an action figure. This $120 bust has a swell hat, a nice jacket, and will look nice near your other McQuarrie goodies.
In the realm of "holy cow that's awesome," kids of the 1980s will lose their cool over Gentle Giant's exclusive Jumbo 12-Inch Celebration VII Droids C-3PO. (I want one!) This yellow figure is a remake of a repaint - one of very few repaints - from the entire original Kenner action figure line. It is gorgeous. I will have one. (Somehow.)
Funko revealed five exclusive and first-to-market Pop! Vinyl Star Wars Bobble Heads for Star Wars Celebration VII. E-3PO, Unmasked Darth Vader, a Shock Trooper, R2-Q5, and R2-R9 were revealed so far. Click here to see the post on their fancy blog.
