It's Monday, so read some Q&A! Are we suffering from brand fatigue? I don't think so, personally. Should we expect Hasbro to do a Pre-Order Program for a Death Star Playset? I wouldn't hold my breath. And there's more! Also, more adventures in spying on how the Hot Wheels half lives at the end.
That's the rumor! Comingsoon.com, Slashfilm, Theme Park Insider, and IGN (among others) all have reports of this tantalizing, thrilling, and completely expected development. UPDATE - a reader and former Disney employee added his two cents.
For those of you who are interested in reading, something called William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope is actually a thing coming out July 2. Amazon has it up for pre-order, and EW.com has an excerpt up you can read right now! Ian Doescher penned the play which comes complete with illustrations that are appropriately of an older era.
After a few aborted game plans and years of speculation that wasn't really speculation, EA's DICE division has something special for you: an E3 teaser trailer for Star Wars Battlefront III! You can see it after the jump, although there's not a heck of a lot to really digest here just yet other than a lot of familiar, snowy sounds.
Your long, national nightmare is over - it's Q&A! What does the future of Vintage 3-Packs look like? I'm guessing not great. And what's the best way to clean aging figures as they get oily or greasey? We have a couple of options for you. And don't forget, as slow as things have been, new vintage exclusive vehicles (well old ones in new boxes, at least) are on the way! All this and fast toy cars in Q&A!
Our sponsors at BigBadToyStore.com have posted new pre-orders and latest arrivals. Pre-order the new Star Wars Black Series, Mission, and Saga assortments today! Check out the full announcement ahead!
Former Disney animator Jason Peltz has added some awesome new art prints to his Etsy store, including Leia as an Imperial, Han and Luke Stormtrooper, and "Wimpy Kid" Luke. Click through to check them out!
A few of you have commented on our recent coverage of not-necessarily-licensed collectibles, and to this I say: Check out the Star Wars Han Solo in Carbonite Light Switch on Etsy. If this doesn't make you smile, you're dead inside and dead to me.
Good Q&A Morning! Sort of. My air conditioner died! But this is not the issue of the day - lists of upcoming figures is where we kick off, followed by the return of 12-inch figures in various forms and new versions of old vehicles. All this and more await you in the delightful, splendiferous weekly Q&A! As always, feel free to send in your questions for next time.
OK toy fans - the pre-orders are live and the release date for Star Wars: The Black Series is coming up pretty quickly. We have a question for you, specifically we'd love to know how you would prefer to see the figures reviewed on this very site when we find/obtain/do not steal our review samples! Your input is very much appreciated.
The poll will allow you to vote for more than one option - so if there are two you would like, by all means, go for it. We haven't decided what direction to take for these just yet, and are really curious what the collectors of 2013 want the most. (We opted to not include a longer video option, because, let's face it, nobody needs 10 minutes to review 1 figure if Siskel and Ebert could debate a film in 3 minutes.)
Hasbro will be offering the exclusive Black Series Boba Fett and Han Carbonite at Celebration 2 Europe. The set will also be offered this summer as a Hasbro Comic-Con exclusive.
Ewok lovers rejoice! Just in time for Return of the Jedi's 30th anniversary, LEGO announces their new Ewok Village playset complete with tons of movie inspired play features and 16 minifigures plus R2-D2. The set includes 1990 pieces and will retail for $249.99. Detail, official images, video and more after the jump!
From our sponsors at BriansToys.com: Brian's Toys has the new Black Series 6" and 3.75" action figures available for pre-order along with the new Mission Series and Saga Legends figures. A link making the rounds to the site Tenth Letter of the Alphabet focuses on something which may be of interest to you called "Anatomy of a Logo: Star Wars." It looks at the evolution and many revisions of the famous logo, with lots of examples from licensed products you own or have owned with things like a changing, more pointy "W" and Marvel Comics' revisions to the classic eight letters we now all probably have, in some incarnation, by the thousand in our storage units.
After rumors and some confusion, a few reviews surfaced today confirming that it was indeed available to purchase! The iTunes Store has Knights of the Old Republic for your iPad. The 10-year-old game is $9.99. A story at Time.com talks about how IGN had a review up before the game was officially announced. And you thought it was bad when Walmart got an exclusive before Hasbro announced it! (Well, yeah, it is.)
