Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Jabba the Hutt (Throne Room, The Vintage Collection). This is the third toy to use this sculpt, but he had some surprising modifications (a big vinyl square on the underside) and deco that, depending on your lighting situation, might not look as good as the one you already have. This 2024 release came with Salacious Crumb and 8D8 as well as a seat for the big guy, and it's also probably the only affordable version of this particular mold of the space gangster on the market right now. Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: 8D8 (The Vintage Collection). This pack-in figure from Jabba's Palace set is an amazing upgrade - with very little articulation. The last release was in 1998, and this one lacks the light-up eyes or torture rack. He has a lot more paint, though, and looks more on-model. You'll want it, but the $89.99 Jabba set it comes in is kinda pricey. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hera Syndulla (The Ghost, The Vintage Collection). She shares the head and hands with the basic carded figure from Ahsoka, as well as the blaster, but pretty much everything else is new. You can't actually buy this figure outside of eBay right now, but she's pretty good and can be crammed in the Phantom vehicle from that set, just barely. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mother Aniseya (The Retro Collection). Sure, she's from new Disney+ content and not the original trilogy, or Ewoks or Droids or Star Tours or the 1977-1987 Marvel comic book, but she still makes for a decent Kenner-style action figure. Her costume in The Acolyte was incredibly ornate, as was her make-up, and this figure has to tone it down a bit - and does a pretty good job. Her hair is still huge, with some gold in it. Her outfit has a lot of good sculpted detail, including a very Hoth Rebels-esque pattern in the blue part of her costume. She's very much a simplified version of what you saw on the small screen, but if she weren't, she wouldn't be "retro." Give this one a look. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: C1 (Penguin, Holiday Droid Factory). This was the "secret" figure in last year's Disney Advent Calendar - and it's pretty good. The flourishes look like a cross between a rockhopper penguin and a certain mouse, and while it doesn't have a radar dish it does have a wreath. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Jango Fett (The Retro Collection). While a little too nice for a Kenner-style figure, it's not an unlikable toy. The jet pack is similar (but different) from what we got on Boba, bis blasters are cool, and the paint is more or less as good as any modern Jango toy. You should give it a look. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R2 (Gingerbread, Holiday Droid Factory). I like this one - it came from the 2024 Advent Calendar, and it has a ton of paint on it. Lots of icing, lots of candy bits, and a tray of milk and cookies. I'd say you should get this one, even if you don't like holiday figures it's pretty good. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R1 (Holiday Droid Factory). This Advent Calendar figure is very tall, and mashes up a bell with a candy cane. It's not a bad idea, but it is a little on the weird side and may not have a home outside of a holiday set-up. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mandalorian Warrior (Amazon Exclusive 3-Pack, Epic Hero Series) . This Amazon exclusive seems to be in stock and $1 off through that handy affiliate link, and while she's not completely perfect to the costume seen in The Mandalorian I haven't seen any other action figure toys of this character. I think she's great, and one of very few figures exclusive to Epic Hero Series. For that reason, you'll want this set. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: BB-8 (Holiday Droid Factory). This Advent Calendar figure is a snowman, and we've had other snowdroids before - but this one has a teeny hat that I am sure is going to be a selling point.
In light of the reveal today, it seemed worth bringing up this 2019 release - an unlicensed figure - from a 2022 entry in my Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise (Custom). It's the Smith Lord Creations release that was going around, and mine has - to put it mildly - imperfect paint. At the time it was the best option available short of making your own custom figure, and it was expensive - and now it looks like Hasbro is going to make something very similar for a fraction of the price. And I hope Hasbro does a lot more like this. If you never saw it before, check out this fan-made figure from a few years ago. Read the old review!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: B2EMO (Holiday Droid Factory). This Advent Calendar figure is short, but colorful - it comes with a lot of other robots and you can still order it while supplies last on the Disney shop or at your "local" theme park. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: X-Wing Pilot (Human Woman, The Vintage Collection) . If you wondered if slapping a new human head of nobody in particular on a Luke body works, it turns out that it does! Hasbro did a nice job making a decent human head, but it's not of any specific performer (as far as I know) and could well be a Hasbro or Lucasfilm employee. But it's a new pilot, and that's what you probably want here. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Paz Vizsla (Amazon Exclusive 3-Pack, Epic Hero Series). This Amazon exclusive comes in a 3-pack with Axe Woves (new) and an unnamed Mandalorian Warrior figure. Paz Vizsla is identical to the Deluxe figure in stores near you - but without the jet pack or firing rocket launcher. You probably don't need both versions, but if you want all figures and all gear, you're going to have both. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: D-0 (Holiday Droid Factory). It's a red repaint that comes in this year's Disney Advent Calendar - and I would say probably the least interesting droid of a pretty good collection for 2024. Read on!
