By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, April 17, 2016

This week in Q&A - Mini Vehicles - crossing lines for maximum collection power! Toy quantity - just how many Star Wars figures can we expect from this new movie initiative? And filling all the holes - no wait, that's wrong. Rather classic characters - is Hasbro not going to look back with all the new movies?

Kmart Star Wars Exclusive Rey Figure Hitting Retail Stores Now

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, April 16, 2016

She's out!  Kmart's Rey (Starkiller Base) 6-inch The Black Series action figure is making the rounds and is being placed on shelves as I write this.  Might your one or two remaining stores have them?  You'll have to go look, because the product finder on their web site isn't working properly.   Each figure is $24.99, assuming of course you find one.  I located one at one of the final Mart of K outposts in Phoenix, AZ this afternoon.

Star Wars - The Original (1997) Trilogy Returns to Theaters Once More

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 12, 2016

While you're all coming down off the high of the Rogue One trailer and the recent news that Ben Affleck is bringing you a new Batman movie, how about checking out movies you've got memorized?  The 1997 cuts of the Star Wars Trilogy - that is, the Special Editions - are coming to theaters, briefly, for the May the Fourth Be With You campaign at Alamo Draft House theaters.  I'm not quite sure of the date, it would be handy if they included such things in the name of the promotion.  Click here for dates and deets.

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, April 10, 2016

This week in Q&A - Storing 6-inch Star Wars figures! ...OK, we don't have a great solution there yet. But maybe you do. And Are we wasting our breath when it comes to figures we want that aren't in development yet? Maybe. Finally, 3D Printing and the future of toys. If it has one, it's a ways off, but let's have fun anyway.

First Impressions: Hasbro's Star Wars Takodana Encounter Action Figure Set

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 5, 2016

3079 We'll be tackling these - or at least one of these - in Figure of the Day very soon, but it seemed prudent to give you the lowdown on this awesome gift set now just in case you were waffling over buying it or just a couple of single figures.   This 4-pack costs less than 3 individual figures at most stores, plus sports one exclusive figure and accessories to boot.  When you see the Takodana Encounter you'll say "Octopus, right?"  (I think that's what it is, I never took Japanese.)

If you like you can order this item at our sponsor Entertainment Earth or on Amazon.com.

This action figure set comes in a box that's pretty much the same size and shape as last year's "Digital Release" boxed sets for all six films - on a shelf, this would look very nice next to them.   In it you'll find Finn (repack of individual figure), Rey (repack of individual figure), BB-8 (the Scavengers version), and Maz Kanata (new).  The two "combine weapons" are gone, but instead you'll find a lightsaber hilt, a lightsaber, and a trunk - the perfect place to store your priceless religious heirlooms in the basement of a bar.  In short: you'll be wanting one.

Q&A: Hunting, Bugging Employees, and More Star Wars 3 3/4-Inch Angst

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, April 3, 2016

This week in Q&A - the sound of 3 3/4-inch falling apart. This is a common thread - and it (apparently) can't be reiterated enough how market conditions and the changing audience has diverted where Hasbro puts its resources in to Star Wars and how it competes against itself for your dollars. Also toy hunting - do you bug the employees? Well, one guy scored doing just that. Me, I just shrug and go to the next place after getting death-stares from big box stores when they ask me if I need any help, but I digress.

Target Gets Exclusive The Force Awakens 12-Inch Droid Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, March 31, 2016

3077 In "news that can scare youse" news, Target stores have a $29.99 3-pack of 12-inch (1:6 scale) droid action figures from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Given no prior publicity or announcement, these sets include R0-4L0, C-3PO, and BB-8 - not a bad deal.  However, don't limit your search to the toy department - I found all of these sets and other toys in the DVD/movie/Blu-Ray section on an endcap.  Happy hunting!

Q&A: Indy, Indy, and Star Wars

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, March 27, 2016

This week in Q&A - Indiana Jones. Which is a separate license from Star Wars. Also more Indiana Jones. Not to be outdone, we're also going to look at the vehicle count - are we getting a fair amount of vehicles for the new flick or are we being shorted? I guess it all depends on your point of view.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,264: Tasu Leech (The Force Awakens)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, March 22, 2016

One of the many criminals we didn't get to spend as much time as we might have liked, Tasu Leech brings us a new character in a nifty costume with a big blaster.   He's shorter than the average 3 3/4-inch figure, but he doesn't look half bad otherwise.  Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Luke Figures, Kylo Ren Head Swapping, and Exclusive Exceptionalism

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, March 20, 2016

This week in Q&A - #WheresLuke? That was the premise of the new movie, and also the premise of Hasbro's current action figure line. And Kylo Ren's helmet - can you swap it between the 3 3/4-inch Jungle figures and the Walmart Black Series figure? The answer may not surprise you. Also more missed figures - maybe. If we don't know we missed it, did we miss it?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,263: Nien Nunb (The Force Awakens)

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, March 18, 2016

Hey kids, it's Nien Nunb!  He's a lot like the 1983 Kenner figure, despite being from the 2015 movie.  He also has a backpack you can ignore.   Read on!
