Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,113: Princess Kneesaa (Ewoks Cartoon, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, March 5, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Princess Kneesaa (Ewoks Cartoon, The Vintage Collection). This is a redeco, with slightly different gear - one hood is missing. But you get a bag and a coin that you didn't get on the last release. The packaging is nice, at least. Read on!

Hasbro Cost-Cutting Incoming, Says WSJ

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, February 29, 2024

If no news is good news, the Wall Street Journal has news. Hasbro’s CFO Sharpens Focus on Cost Savings as Toy Shoppers Pull Back does not necessarily sound like great news, although if Hasbro is reading I'll take care to remind them that The Retro Collection has minimal parts, fewer elements to assemble, and relatively simple packaging.

The article says: "[Hasbro CFO Gina Goetter] pointed to the company’s recent review of Nerf products, noting that the company analyzed everything from the thickness of the plastic it uses to the type of packaging, and compared those costs to competitors’. At every step of the Nerf production process, the company found, it was spending more than its rivals, Goetter said."

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,112: Tusken Chieftan (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, February 29, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Tusken Chieftan (The Black Series). He uses parts of the old Tusken Raider from about seven years ago, but most of what you'll actually see are new parts, with new robes, and some decent paint.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,111: Sabine Wren (Epic Hero Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (Epic Hero Series). This is the one that you might actually find in a store near you, and she has a decent array of gear - but no blasters. She is a deluxe release, so they're charging more for her (backpack, shield) but it's still a pretty nice figure and feels like a durable toy. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,109: Mon Mothma (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, February 20, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mon Mothma (The Retro Collection). Why does she have a blaster? I have no idea - most figures in the 1980s would have, but Anakin didn't, so it's probably just for fun. Read on!

Hasbro to Reduce SKU Count for Fall 2024, This Actually Made The News

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, February 14, 2024

Some of the most common questions we get here at Galactic Hunter, the finest toy news site 2002 had to offer that for some reason hasn't been shut down yet, is "When am I going to get a toy of this thing?" Well, the answer may be "not soon" because articles like Hasbro cuts half of its SKUs as sales fall 23% in Q4 were being forwarded around today.

From the article:

"For the full year [2023], Hasbro’s revenue fell 15% to $5 billion from $5.9 billion a year earlier. The company saw an operating loss of $1.54 billion, including $1.3 billion of impairment charges related to divesting eOne, as well as nonrecurring inventory costs and royalty expenses."

"Hasbro’s full-year outlook anticipates revenue for its consumer products segment will be down 7% to 12%. The company also raised its cost-cutting target to $750 million from its previous goal of $350 million to $400 million by the end of 2025."

What does it mean, you ask?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,107: Cad Bane (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, February 13, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cad Bane (The Black Series). This is the one from The Book of Boba Fett, so there are a lot of differences between him and The Clone Wars' "live action" figure from a few years ago. For example, there are no rocket boots... but it's still a blue Duro in a hat and a duster, so to a lot of fans it's not obvious that it's a completely new sculpt. Read on!

Hasbro Announces Ahsoka E-Wing with KE4-N4

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Hasbro hasn't actually made a completely new 3 3/4-inch vehicle for years (last year's N-1 Fighter was still a Naboo Fighter), but now we're getting the Star Wars The Vintage Collection New Republic E-Wing & KE4-N4. That's the little Kenner R2-D2 droid from Ahsoka in here, but sadly the pilot is sold separately.  At $99.99 (and seemingly made-to-order with a pre-order deadline of March 5, 2024) it certainly isn't cheap, but other recent vehicles for collectors are in this general ballpark.   I ordered one.  You can order one here.

If the vehicle looks familiar, it should. One of Galoob's final Action Fleet vehicles was an E-Wing back in the 1990s, but other than that it's a pretty obscure vehicle that doesn't get a lot of love. (Even I confuse it with the 1990s version of the V-Wing at times.  It's not the same as the prequel V-Wing.) This E-Wing looks cool, and I assume the pack-in droid is going to be the selling point for most fans.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,105: Sabine Wren (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, February 6, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (The Retro Collection). We looked at the $28 Vintage figure last week, and this $12 Retro figure isn't as fancy - but it's a satisfying release with lots of accessories. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,104: Sabine Wren (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, February 1, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (The Vintage Collection). This figure has a bunch of accessories, but at a $11 premium over a standard figure. While she did not get widespread distribution, some of the stores that got her still have her around and some have reported clearance prices - so keep hunting and keep scanning if you haven't picked one up yet. She's great for a $17 or under figure, but at $28 you may be asking if the additional deco, the Lothcat, or the other gear are worth the extra credits. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,103: Pyke Soldier (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, January 30, 2024

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Pyke Soldier (The Black Series). It's like the stock photo got turned into a toy, with an extra blaster and no special features. It's decent, and meets modern fan expectations for the scale. Read on!

Also, a new Transformers HasLab is live now - and it's over 25% funded in the first hour. There's a decent proposition for what you get, and how big the robots are relative to other toys in the marketplace.

ICYMI: Hasbro Pulse Has Star Wars The Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Throne Room In Stock

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, January 26, 2024

I was talking with a friend over email and it came up that nobody was talking about the Star Wars The Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Throne Room, which came out last September and Hasbro Pulse has in stock right now for $229.99.   I took some pictures of it for our Tumblr as well, outfitting it with various aliens from Return of the Jedi over the last 46 years of toys.

It's a pretty good piece.  I haven't opened up all of the accessories still, mostly because I was less interested in setting up The Book of Boba Fett gear.  Why? Not enough figures.  Hasbro delivered a really excellent multi-purpose playset that can be used with either that show or Return of the Jedi, but as they didn't deliver many of the lesser members of Boba Fett's entourage... why would you want a $230 playset to sit empty?
