David Yeh of Endor Express has a great report on the new Droid Factory shop that opened up at Disneyland Anaheim Star Traders recently, to the joy of West Coast fans.

At last! After nearly a year in waiting, Droid Factory has finally launched at Star Traders in Disneyland Anaheim! MouseWait has the photo confirmation and big thanks to Yakface.com for the heads up!

Thanks to a tip from our pal and friend to all collectors Chuck, we now know that Downtown Disney's Once Upon a Toy Hasbro store now has the Droid Factory set up.  This means you don't have to pay to get into Disney Hollywood Studios, as Once Upon a Toy has no admission fee.  From the pictures it looks like it's a much better set-up filled with bins on four sides (rather than just one) and best of all, you won't have to shell out $100 to get into the theme park to waste 2 hours of high-quality ride time to attempt to collect them all.

Hey kids, it's a Blue R8-Series Astromech Droid! This is another Star Tours Droid Factory figure.  It's nice.  Were it at Target, you'd merely buy it and enjoy it, rather than have it be the root of acute droid anxiety.  I like it.  Will you?

We have received an update from Hasbro announcing the cancellation of the Droid Factory assortment in 2013, pointing to pricing and value as reasons for the decision. Many of the figures announced last summer for this line will be released in the fall, with further announcements being made at Toy Fair next month. Let's finish up this trilogy of purple astromech droids while I listen to Freezepop and post the R4-Series Astromech Droid in this lovely coloring.  You'll like it.  Trust me.  Mace Windu would, too.

It looks like it belongs to Mace Windu, but the Purple R6-Series Astromech Droid is one of many robots you can build at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando.  Well, maybe, getting the pieces you want is something of a trick.

Ahh, the Purple R3-Series Astromech Droid.  This Orlando exclusive is a pain in the next to get, but pretty neat because of the crystal-clear colorless dome and the purple detailing.  Should you get one?

Ahhh this is a good one.  Thanks to my pal Shannon for helping me to get the Black R6 Series Astromech Droid, one of my favorites from the new Droid Factory at Disney Hollywood Studios Orlando.  Is it worth tracking down?

Check out this awesome figure!  The Red R2-Series Astromech Droid is, like, super-red.  Almost orange, that's how red it is.  You can only get it at Star Tours in Orlando... or perhaps eBay, and let me tell you it's arguably worth it.  Want to know more?  Read on!

This is a good one.  The Yellow R6-Series Astromech Droid was probably my favorite from the ones I was able to get in Orlando last month, because it looks just familiar and just different enough to be awesome.  It's also in some really gonzo color.  Is it worth tracking down?

Hasbro has provided us with official images of what was revealed at Celebration CVI on Friday for next year's Droid Factory Wave 2, 2013 Clone Wave 1, 2013 Movie Heroes Wave 1, Class I and II Vehicles, and Fighter Pods. Here's the breakdown:

The Disney booth was ripe with activity as Celebrationers clamored for their Star Wars meets Mouse themed exclusives. Their Holographic Leia Vinylmation that was limited to 2,500 pieces sold out by Saturday.

We've posted photos from today's Hasbro panel and booth. There are a few things to be excited about, including a TRU Vintage Slave I in 2013 and images of new Droid Factory and Clone Wars figures. Not much in terms of exclusives, but a new assortment of down-sized Class II vehicles to make them more affordable for the mommy market will surely cause debate.

Depending on where you sit as a fan, the merchandising at Star Tours is either the best thing ever or something giving you a little toy anxiety.  (Hi, Ron!)   This year at Celebration VI, Disney previewed Droid Factory, new Star Wars Muppets, Vinylmation, and-- get ready for this-- Star Wars Disney-Pixar Cars.  Yes.  Darth Mater.
