The Mandalorian and Grogu Now Streaming on Disney+

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, September 4, 2026

It's been actual years since we had a movie that could even have a home release, so it is fun to say The Mandalorian and Grogu is now streaming on Disney+ along with a couple of episodes of a behind-the-scenes podcast.

The movie is presently the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie, but I would recommend you check it out anyway.  It's about as good as the streaming shows, loaded with creatures, and it even has some pretty fancy Phil Tippet-powered droids in it.  It will be difficult, if not impossible, to get you a movie that makes you feel like you're a little kid again - but there's enough going on here tthat should make you smile.   And if you have a three-day weekend, what else is there to do?

If it's Labor Day where you live, don't go back to work without watching at least one new-to-you movie.  And tell us what you saw, we'll be judging your choice.

There are a lot of good movies and reissues to check out in theaters.  Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a pretty spectacularly entertaining date movie that uses slasher imagery to give you something entirely different.  Coyote vs. Acme is getting rave reviews, although I would say it is merely "good."  Maybe I need a rewatch.  A lot of anime is coming to the big screen, with the likes of Akira getting an IMAX rerelease. Right now. You can go see it, really.  Ghost in the Shell is coming up too.

Also notable, Svengoolie will be showing They Came from Beyond Space. If you have an antenna or know the right places to stream his show online, you can check that out before The Fly next weekend.
