40th Anniversary Collection

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,756: Wampa (40th Anniversary, The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, December 1, 2020

Packaged in a nice retro foil box, the Wampa (40th Anniversary, The Black Series 6-Inch) was a PulseCon exclusive that was meant to be an SDCC exclusive.   It's nice! The Wampa drops the blood from the face of the previous release and paints the paw pads to look more like the 1980s Kenner edition.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,754: Yoda (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, November 24, 2020

This Yoda (The Black Series 6-Inch) is very tiny and has a bonus second head - also a Luke packaged with it.  You should probably get this 2-pack because Luke has exclusive gear in this pack, which makes the $40 price tag a bit easier to swallow.  Read on!

Not SDCC: Star Wars 40th Anniversary Wampa

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, July 20, 2020

3791 A few years ago, Hasbro sold a pretty good Wampa with a pretty good Hoth Luke for about $40.  It was a good deal.   This year, Hasbro will be selling a $30 Wampa in a closed box with a fifth panel as part of its not-SDCC Pulse drop in September.   Luke is not included, but the deco has been updated in a few places - his paws are painted, like Kenner's original toy.  (The previous 6-inch wampa's claws were painted.)  The wampa dropped the blood.  Also, the colors around the eyes are a little different.  I daresay it's better, which is good, because it's $30.

The figure is about as nicely articulated as a lot of the other 6-inch figures, and features no action mechanisms like the orignial's cord-powered arms.

Here's what Hasbro had to say:

HasCon - Star Wars 40th Anniversary Collection and The Black Series Diorama-Rama

You may have seen this from San Diego Comic-Con, but it was mobbed by people in a tight booth.  At HasCon, there was more space between things, so you don't have to worry about being crushed alive from all sides while trying to look at an action figure.  Also notable, many figures in the diorama were customized and a Luke Stormtrooper has an alternate, wet head.   I was unable to find out if it's coming out or was just a thing for the booth, but the important thing tonight is that you can see it after the jump.

Hasbro Toy Fair: 3 3/4-Inch Star Wars Die-Cast Metal Action Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, February 18, 2017

3297 Metal!  You've seen these before, but the 3 3/4-inch diorama 40th Anniversary Titanium Series figures are pretty neat.  Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were all shown in person to the public for the first time.

Also shown, more packs of helmets.  When are they coming?  I have no idea, but we have pictures.

Star Wars Goes Metal - Again

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, February 9, 2017

If you're very old, you may remember Hasbro's Titanium Series Forged Figures a few years ago - die-cast metal (and plastic) figures packaged in plastic domes for about $15.  The format is back, taking a cue from Unleashed and the 3 3/4-inch 2002 Saga line with swooshes and blast effects - and cool display stands.   Hasbro says:
