While watching Revenge of the Sith on Spike this evening, I remembered a certain deleted scene which never made it to the final clip involving Galactic Hunter. Thanks to the folks at Lucasfilm for putting this together for us!
The most prominent and notorious Clone Trooper unit gets an update in plastic in the new and improved 2011 body. He's super-articulated, nicely-decoed and you can generalize this as a repaint of the Movie Heroes Class I BARC Speeder with Clone Trooper and you would be correct. But then there's a slight issue with the helmet.
Despite her brief appearances in the films, Aayla Secura has a good following among the fan base. As far as her action figure, I didn't really give much thought to an upgrade even with the less than spectacular efforts in 2003 and 2005.
The 2005 Revenge of the Sith Clone Trooper figure with "Quick Draw" action feature is re-released for the 2012 Movie Heroes assortment. The Shock Trooper also includes a character card, figure stand, and die for the Galactic Battle game.
A holdover from Wave 2 Revenge of the Sith, Yoda gets remixed somewhat in Wave 5. Featuring a vastly improved repainted head sculpt from the 2007 Kybruck figure along with that version's torso, Vintage Yoda sports new swivel jointed arms and ball jointed shoulders and knees. The cloak also fits nicely, and as Adam Pawlus noted in this week's Q&A, lacks a hood and features some Dagobah like weathering. In whole, it's a great figure and we really like the inclusion of The Force blast/shield accessory.
Since he was first released for The 30th Anniversary Collection in 2007, this super articulated and removable helmet version of Commander Gree with superior paint deco has seen a couple of re-issues as a "Greatest Hit". He's definitely worth picking up for the nice look of the Vintage card alone. And if you've yet to collect him loose after almost 4 years, here's another chance.
The VC15 Clone Trooper is updated with yellow deco and an additional blaster rifle to transform into a 212th Battalion Clone Trooper that will adequately army build and re-enforce your Battle of Utapau diorama. The removable helmet gives this version the advantage over the 2006 Saga Collection version, although that yellowing discoloration on the helmet isn't battle damage. It's just the yellowing and discoloration of cheaper grade plastics.
Vader's crack unit gets repacked again for Saga Legends 2010 after being released for The 30th Anniversary Collection Saga Legends assortment from 2007. Again, the body of the ROTS super-articulated Clone Trooper (III-41) from 2005 is used and applied with the distinct markings of the 501st Legion. Win all around.
Hasbro corrected the first release of SL12 Obi-Wan Kenobi, the AOTC "you don't want to sell me death sticks" version from Saga 2003, to the intended and represented, not to mention much better done, TAC iteration from 2008. How do mix ups like these happen at the factory? We can only guess, but Hasbro may need to go home and rethink their life...err...quality control.
Speaking of the white ROTS Clone Trooper from 2005, here he is next as SL16! This particular mold has been used a few times, including the ROTS Commander Gree and exclusive Covert Ops Clone Trooper.
Size matters not, yet Yoda comes packin with a firing cannon! First released in 2005 for the Revenge of the Sith collection, this version comes with a removable plastic molded cape, which hinders his poseability when he has it on, but has decent articulation underneath.
