From the look of reports, online inventory, and lack of order processing, Target's exclusive Star Wars Retro Collection Star Wars: A New Hope Figure Multipack with the Sandtrooper and Dr. Evazan did not make it out on the release date today. Other Hasbro The Black Series exclusives like the Andor Range Trooper and the reissue Rogue One Jedha Stormtrooper are reportedly in stock around the country, so happy hunting on those two today.
Where does that leave the retro set? Updated 4/28.
As of now, existing pre-orders still show a delivery date for next weekend. Mine says May 4. Its order status of "backordered" make me think either the set is in a state of mid-receipt and will finish processing shortly, or that we're about to find out there's been a delay.
An update from Monday, May 28: Target will be setting a "Power the Force" (note: not Power of the Force") endcap this coming week or weekend. At least one Target near me has the endcap set, just without the product yet. Of note was a shelf tag with a barcode that seemed to match the one I just happened to have in my pocket for the retro 6-pack. Also, an Epic Hero Series X-Wing price tag. That's good news!
But hey, since I have your attention have you seen this Star Wars: The Retro Collection big list of lists I've been making? If you've been wondering how many droids, or figures with lightsabers, or aliens that the line has, I have too. So I tallied them. Take a look!
