This week in Q&A - Overkill - are we there yet? And mold mania - do we know if something is truly done forever? (Nope!) And helmet hassles - is it time to join the modder movement?
And send in your questions for next week. Read on!
Hasbro's PR firm sent us a note this morning to inform us that there's an Official Star Wars 2016 Collector Checklist! Click here to grab it.
Since this is produced on the official timetable, you won't see some known-but-not-listed items like Wave 2 3 3/4-inch action figures, 2-packs, 6-inch figures, and so on. But what is on here may amaze you - a bunch of exclusives we've not yet seen! Read on to find out what you'll find in stores as the year goes on.
People love Sabine Wren. She's selling - I see cases of Rogue One figures at Big Lots or Walmart or what have you, and typically she's the one who's gone. If you see one, get one - find out why, read on!
This Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot is the one from the TIE Striker - it's a heck of a nice figure and the first 100%-new 3 3/4-inch movie-based Imperial pilot in over a decade. If they sold this figure individually with various helmet variants, you'd be happy to buy them. Read on!
New from Kotobukiya - at importer NCS - is the Star Wars Lunchplate. A Landspeeder and Millennium Falcon-based platter set is up for grabs for $40.90. Each one, I suppose, makes lunch an out of this world experience. Check it out!
Ad: Pre-Order Star Wars Rogue One 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures Wave 2 Case from Entertainment Earth! This one's awesome - Darth Vader has a waist joint, and a belt buckle-inspired missile launcher.
This week in Q&A - The Original 12 - is there a perfect dozen modern update? Ehh. Not really. Not yet. Lightsaber speculation - are the Darth Vader toys trying to tell you something about Rogue One? And Waiting for sales - should you? Do you believe the claim of someone who says they got everything on markdown? Well, we've got space to fill.

Last week Hasbro dropped the first wave of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story action figures. At New York Comic Con, Hasbro revelaed some more 3 3/4-inch action figures from waves 2 and 3! Baze Malbus and a Stormtrooper Officer make up a new 2-pack. New single figures from wave 2 include Darth Vader and Chirrut Imwe. Future figures include Jyn Erso in an Imperial Ground Crew disguise, Bodhi Rook, and Admiral Raddus. We assume there is a rule all Mon Calamari must be Admirals.
Hasbro sent along new The Black Series reveals from New York Comic Con! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases await you including a new Darth Vader, Director Krennic, a Scarif Stormtrooper, Baze Malbus, and Chirrut Imwe. Neat stuff! Hasbro's photographers sure love negative space.
New Galactic Heroes! Hasbro was kind enough to send along some of their NYCC reveals. New York Comic Con has a press event running alongside the show. Unmasked Kylo Ren vs. Rey, Chewbacca vs. First Order TIE Pilot, and an AT-AT were show! There are big weapons, clever gimmicks, and bigger, jointed figures that you probably previously also saw as Jedi Force a few years ago. More pictures after the jump? Sure! But you can also see all of this stuff on our Tumblr. Follow us there for more!
The Rogue One line is mostly new movie stuff, but returning favorites and the Rebels cast like Hera Syndulla put in a few appearances. This particular figure is an A-Wing pilot, and a pretty good one - but it's the Hera you bought before with a new head. Is that enough to warrant another purchase? It's a non-removable helmet, for what it's worth. Read on!
No really, the AT-DP Pilot is new, I swear! It looks just like the figure you bought a couple of years ago, but it's a different tool - the foot copyrights are different, the textures are different, he's a tiny bit shorter, and the deco and paint masks are changed a bit. The tint is different, too. It's packed with the just-released Imperial Speeder vehicle - a worthwhile purchase - but it's almost the very definition of a "just different enough to make you mad" figure. You might not even realize it's different without a side-by-side comparison, but don't worry - you've got one when you read on.
Hot Wheels! Walmart in the USA has a new exclusive assortment of cars for $0.97 a pop. This batch is based on planets. It’s the third “$1″ car batch, the previous two focused on episodes and factions.
These are quite nice - while Rogue One iconography is nowhere to be seen, you’ll see some retro graphics on the side with touristy vistas, Tusken Raiders, AT-ATs, lightsaber duels, Cloud City, and more. You’ll even notice Rey on her speeder on the Jakku one. If you ever bought the old Burger King glasses, the art style is similar to those.
So far Walmart’s have been the only Hot Wheels sets I’ve been all-in on, thanks to the lower price point and the creative designs. As a bonus, they all have distinctive card art. Get ‘em if you can find them! Designs include Kamino, Mustafar, Tatooine, Hoth, Dagobah, Bespin, Endor, and Jakku - and are numbered sequentially in order of appearance in the saga. At this time I know of no Rogue One tie-in assortment, but we've still got a few more months.
