Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,823: L4-R6 (Droid Depot Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, June 7, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: L4-R6 (Droid Depot Line Look). The droid looks like some of your other droids, but it has great dirty printing on it and a slightly different stencil template making it not like the legions of Hasbro and Disney droids you've bought over the last couple of decades. This week in Q&A - Distribution! Hasbro doesn't like to talk about it, and I don't like to either. Changing figure formats - just how high could prices get? All this and more await you!

Be sure you send in your questions for next time. The mailbag is out of on-topic questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,822: B-R72 (Droid Depot Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 3, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: B-R72 (Droid Depot Line Look). It's part of a big droid boxed set being sold at Disney theme parks (or eBay) right now. If you can find it, and squint, maybe you'll see it as a DHL mascot. I like it. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,821: Moff Gideon (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 1, 2021

We're almost out of Kenner retro figures to review - but I don't want to live in the present! Moff Gideon (The Retro Collection). The Darksaber is the old Bespin/Jedi Luke lightsaber, but in black. The blaster pistol is new. The vinyl cape is retro, and on this particular figure seems like a good stylistic choice despite the vinyl capes being phased out of new characters by 1982. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,811: R5-Series Astromech Droid White with Red Panels (2015 Edition)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 31, 2021

Today in just different enough to presumably make you mad: R5-Series Astromech Droid White with Red Panels (2015 Edition). Since they had the body, they repainted it, and we got some pretty nifty variations on the old Bounty Hunter droid. Mine has CZ arms, which look neat since one of the shoulders is painted a slightly different color. These things sometimes look like they were assembled by Jawas. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,819: The Child (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, May 27, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Child (The Retro Collection). At $10, it's a pretty decent package with a little frog, the hover pram, a stand, and everything else you could want. The figure seems very much like a retro throwback, but you get way more stuff in the bubble than you would have 30ish years ago. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,818: IG-11 (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 25, 2021

Today's focus is on this new release: IG-11 (The Retro Collection). Because the 1980s never ended for some of us, Hasbro made figures that look like old Kenner releases. IG-11 looks a lot like IG-88, only softer, missing a few details, and not quite as perfect as gripping the blasters - but it's still pretty great. I also appreciate they elected to go with the "Credit Collection" red coloring to set it apart. Read the whole review.

Q&A: The Sequel Trilogy, Star Wars Street Dates, and Things I'm Not Reading

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, May 23, 2021

This week in Q&A - The High Republic! Nope, no toy plans yet! Street dates! Are they still a thing? Kinda. But not usually. The Sequel Era! is it being ignored, or is it your imagination?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,816: Kuiil (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, May 20, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,816: Kuiil (The Retro Collection). This Ugnaught looks a little bit different from the vintage one, and takes a few liberties with the rubbery head from the TV show. It's still cool, and a lot more colorful than the previous figures. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,815: Cara Dune (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cara Dune (The Retro Collection). This is a good one - she can hold her blasters, stand, sit, and generally look like an old Kenner figure with a far better paint job than we would be likely to see in the 1980s. Unlike some other late-era Kenner women figures, she also has a neck. (Look at Kea Moll.) She's also a little short - but still a good figure. Mostly I'm just happy there's no vinyl cape to get in the way of vehicle interaction. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,814: 3PO Protocol Droid (Blue, Droid Factory)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 17, 2021

Today in Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day: 3PO Protocol Droid (Blue, Droid Factory). This blue droid is sold in parts bins exclusively in theme parks, which may as well mean eBay. The blue head and torso include unique painted stripe patterns, the significance of which I actually do not know - but it's blue and it looks cool, and it reminds me of the blue concept C-3POs we once saw in Tomart's Action Figure Digest. In other words, this Disney figure is sort of like a Kenner prototype we assumed we'd never get. Read on!
