The Vintage Collection

Image Bank: VC24 Wooof

By Mike — Sunday, November 14, 2010

Next up is the artist formerly known as Klaatu. Wooof comes with a removable helmet and bandolier to complement his great looking sculpt. The soft goods skirt is also nicely screen accurate. What can we say? This whole ROTJ wave is the bees knees!

One other note, which you may have noticed when perusing our Image Bank, is that the newly shipping cards are coming UNPUNCHED! This particular case we received had all the ROTJ cards in UP condition along with the one Anakin Skywalker card (sadly, it isn't the "Darth Vader" running change version).

Image Bank: VC23 Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)

By Mike — Sunday, November 14, 2010

Best. Jedi Luke. Ever. After last year's BAD release received much haranguing from collectors due to its barrel chest and disproportions, Hasbro releases the most "ultimate" version so far, with a striking head sculpt likeness similar to the way they nailed the TVC Bespin version. . A removable cloak would have been nice, but the overall result isn't diminished at all.

Image Bank: VC22 Admiral Ackbar

By Mike — Saturday, November 13, 2010

It's a...triumph in plastic likeness as Hasbro creates the ultimate Ackbar for the 2010 Vintage Collection. We can't say enough about the sculpt of this figure, and the accompanying control panel accessory would be even that much more fantastic if it actually connects to a command chair that's part of a Rebel command bridge play environment.

Image Bank: VC21 Gamorrean Guard

By Mike — Saturday, November 13, 2010

The McRib is back. It's just that this little piggy is a wonderful combination of masterfully sculpted detail and great articulation that clearly makes this the best Gamorrean Guard ever. With a cool removable helmet and a nicely done soft goods skirt, you'll want to pick up a few of these to upgrade your Jabba's Palace diorama a few notches to spectacular.

Image Bank: Foil Chase Updates

By Mike — Sunday, September 26, 2010

We have updated our Image Bank with Vintage Collection Foil Cards (Ultimate Galactic Hunt) for your viewing pleasure. One more foil to update, and that's Darth Sidious, who has proven to be the most elusive for this hunter so far. Enjoy!

Image Bank: VC11 Cloud Car Pilot

By Mike — Sunday, September 26, 2010

VC11 Cloud Car Pilot catches us up in our Vintage Collection Image Bank. This version of the pilot shares the same design schematic as the vintage version. What it doesn't share is the groovy stache so hip in Disco era Cloud City fashion. We're hoping for a running change head variant for a little more diversity in our Bespin aerial security detail.

Image Bank: VC10 4-LOM

By Mike — Friday, September 24, 2010

It's back to the future for VC10 4-LOM, where you play a slight premium for the retro vintage card and nothing else, like the coin from the 2007 TAC release. He's today's addition in our Image Bank. Please post your comments!

Image Bank: VCP03 Vintage Rocket Firing Boba Fett

By Mike — Tuesday, September 14, 2010

For 5 POP's and $7 bucks, you can get a small piece of your childhood back. Well, for a lot of us. VCP03 Rocket Firing Boba Fett has a special place in Star Wars collecting history and kudos to Hasbro for making this mailaway happen. The first wave is shipping now, so be nice to your mailman lest he get bent out of shape.

Image Bank: VC09 Boba Fett

By Mike — Monday, September 13, 2010

For VC09 Boba Fett, Hasbro updates last year's BD36 (which in turn was an update of the Evolutions Fett), gives it a more authentic paint refresh, and tweaked the helmet to make it a little more movie accurate. We can nitpick about wrist articulation and giving him a Jeremy Bulloch as Chuck Norris head, but this figure coupled with the awesome vintage packaging needs to be on your hunt list if you can find one. It really is the best Fett yet. Post your comments and let us know what you think!

"He's No Good To Me Bent"

By Mike — Monday, September 13, 2010

Reports are coming in of collectors receiving their Mail Away Vintage Boba Fetts from coast to coast. The not so good news is the mailer boxes haven't been the sturdiest and cards have been coming in bent and crushed.

Image Bank: VC08 Darth Vader

By Mike — Sunday, September 12, 2010

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have VC08 Darth Vader. An awesome new head sculpt with the body of the Evo Vader is diminished by the inability of the 3 piece helmet to stay together. With apologies to Tootie, what's your take on the new Dark Lord of the Sith? Post your comments and be heard!

Image Bank: VC07 Dack Ralter

By Mike — Saturday, September 11, 2010

In the Star Wars universe, when one makes an assessment of a particularly dire situation, like, oh say, an impending land battle with a superior Imperial force, you're better off saying "I have a bad feeling about this" rather than an over exuberant "feeling you can take on the whole Empire" yourself. VC07 Dack Ralter features a whole new head sculpt and some recycled parts from previously released pilots. Make sure to post your comments!

Image Bank: VC06 See-Threepio (C-3PO)

By Mike — Friday, September 10, 2010

In designing VC06 See-Threepio (C-3PO), Hasbro had to find middle ground between authenticity and play value. The all new figure has a great sculpt, articulation, and more prominently, cool removable panels to reveal his droid innards. But to allow this feature, Hasbro compromised his shiny golden-ness by relinquishing the vac metal deco. Did they do the figure justice?

Image Bank: VC05 AT-AT Commander

By Mike — Tuesday, September 7, 2010

He's no Max Veers, but a homage to the generic AT-AT Commander of the Kenner days of yore. VC05 AT-AT Commander's armor can be removed to reveal a detailed Imperial issued officer's wear underneath, and you can certainly swap heads for army building purposes. We wished that Hasbro had included an officer's cap, but that doesn't diminish what is one of the better executed figures of this wave. Post your comments and let Hasbro know what you think!

Image Bank: VC04 Luke Skywalker

By Mike — Monday, September 6, 2010

Aside from Boba Fett and Yoda, VC04 Bespin Luke is one of those ESB characters Hasbro has to eventually nail if they state that these Vintage Collection figures are the premium representations they're supposed to be. We're happy to say they nailed it. Featuring a spot on headsculpt, super articulation, and great paint detail, they should template this for future purposes like a running change "battle damage" version or Dagobah training. It's just that good. Post your comments if you agree or disagree!
