Hasbro has officially released their Toy Fair presentation to fan media and we have uploaded it to our Image Bank for your viewing pleasure.
2011 was, to put it mildly, a lackluster year for Star Wars action figure collecting. Lackluster in that it didn’t quite meet the promise of 2010, where The Vintage Collection was launched with such alacrity and The Clone Wars line churning out great episodes and figures. Last year, we had distribution issues, waves of figures that were held back, and even other waves that were found on discount pegs at TJ Maxx before you even found them at a Target.
LEGO announced a renewal of their Star Wars license at Toy Fair translating a successful thirteen years of not only fun and creative construction sets, but also a transformation into a global property that also includes theme parks, video games, and television. Not that the construction sets have played second fiddle either. LEGO reported over 200 million sets sold since 1999, making it one of the most successful toy lines.
We've posted a couple of more videos from the Hasbro showroom featuring more zoom close up shots of the fabulous new Vintage Collection figures from the Toy Fair 2012 Collector Media Event. Enjoy!
Here's a video of the new BMF for 2012, the Trade Federation MTT. It comes with a lot of electronic sounds, a motorized retractable compartment for the battle droid army, and a lot of other play features that may or may not justify the $130-140 price tag for you.. Check out the video ahead!
We have posted up our Hasbro Collector Media Event photos to our Image Bank. There's a bunch of eye candy to see, including the amazing MTT, a brand new Tarkin, a Bespin Gown Leia, Weequay, and so much more! Did you ever dream of having a Jar Jar in carbonite? Hasbro issued their Toy Fair press release breaking down their several brands, a few of which are hitting the big screen this year, including Star Wars of course. In their Star Wars announcement, they highlight their new Fighter Pods micro figure line and Star Wars AMP'D: "For the first time ever, kids will be able to quickly and easily customize the most iconic STAR WARS vehicles and prepare them for any mission: land, space, sea or air! In 2012, the line features 9 figures and 6 vehicles."
We've been doing this for over 12 years (except Pawlus, who has been in the thick of things since '95) and this stuff never gets old. There's always a sense of anticipation on what's to be revealed by Hasbro this Saturday for their Toy Fair Collector Media Event. We've already seen a glimpse of the MTT and a few figures from the U.K. Toy Fair, but we are raring to go to show what else Hasbro has in store for 2012 and perhaps 2013.
