Gentle Giant has always been pretty ingenius when it comes to their Holiday Edition busts. We can usually expect some kind of twist on a Star Wars theme like a or Holiday Max Rebo or Yakface. However, when it comes to their summer convention exclusives, it's been an overwhelming offering of Clones and Troopers. There's perfectly sensible reasoning behind this, since these types of minibusts normally sell through fairly well. For the 2012 convention season, starting with this month's WonderCon, Gentle Giant takes a different approach and offers a piece that is fun, whimsical, commemorative, and what Adam Pawlus refers to quite appropriately as an iconic cultural touchstone.
Gentle Giant announces their WonderCon 2012 exclusive and it's a pretty cool one to celebrate the release of The Phantom Menace 3D. Yoda with 3D Glasses will be exclusive to the show, which takes place in Anaheim, CA from March 16-18.
Walmart.com has launched a Discover The Force 3D Gallery featuring various images that can be viewed with the special 3D glasses included with their DTF exclusives. Most images are featured on the DTF packaging and cardbacks but a few are rather new, including a cool dioramic preview of the upcoming MTT! Thanks to Jayson at Yakface.com for the keen eye!
Walmart appears to be the retailer of choice for exclusives in 2012 with their "Discover The Force" campaign. Each Hasbro Star Wars merchandise includes a pair of 3D glasses and a 3D image on the packaging to share the concept with the TPM re-rerelease. The Royal Starship Droids aren't entirely new but it is a great Battle Pack that evokes one of my favorite scenes in the film which re-introduces R2-D2 as always saving the day.
The Target exclusive Evolutions Light Movie Heroes The Rise of Darth Vader and Emergence of the Sith 2 Packs are now out. The retail is $14.99 each and the DPCI is 087060121.

Following up on Adam's Wal-mart post, select Target stores have also begun marking down their Vintage Tauntaun and Landspeeder exclusives along with their exclusive Search For Lukeskywalker Battle Pack. They were originally slated to hit in August, but Wal-Mart's exclusive pair of mini vehicles hit stores this week. Our pal MeisterShake on Twitter gave me the tip, and I checked two local Wal-Marts and sure enough, they were both stocked with the vehicles at just under $17 each. (Oh, and they have shots of canceled toys on the boxes.)

A stealth exclusive? Yup! Take note of this one, kids, because this is one of the ones you might skip and kick yourself about in about four years if the secondary market prices on Galactic Heroes are any indication. This new Jedi Force Clone Wars Adventure Pack is $14.99, in some Targets now on a special mixed Playskool/Imaginext endcap, and is-- say it with me-- just different enough to make you mad.
Hey kids, the Hoth Rebel Trooper has received an upgrade! Well, a new accessory-- and for a trooper, that's new enough for me. What is it? Read on!
It's another Starkiller! This one comes from parts of The Force Unleashed which were only on lesser consoles-- so you might have missed it. Is he worth buying? Read on!
