Because nobody is going to see it, AMC Theaters are giving out a free exclusive poster on 6/1 and 6/8 on its IMAX screenings. From the look of things, tickets seem to be orbiting $20 - so it's not free as such when other theaters have screenings for as little as $12.99.
This sort of thing isn't entirely uncommon. Some screenings of the movie on opening day had free pins. And of course in 1997 you'll remember the Special Editions had exclusive comic books, MicroMachines, and Kenner action figures on the second week of each original trilogy film at select locations. (Or eBay.) It's an interesting and cheap way to goose attendance on a slow night for an underperforming movie, but I haven't seen a lot of marketing for it and had I not gone to their web site for unrelated reasons I wouldn't even know about it.
The movie itself is quite fun, and while I'll be seeing it in theaters at some point this week Monday's not good for me. So if you get it and steal an extra poster, let me know.
Get it while you can, poster hunters.
