It's a one year anniversary of sorts, as LEGOLAND celebrates the launch of the Star Wars Miniland expansion in their Carlsbad, CA park. The 1:5 scale dioramas represent all 6 films and The Clone Wars television series utilizing over 1.5 million bricks. LEGOLAND held their ribbon cutting ceremony this morning and invited 22 kids from The Make A Wish Foundation. Members of the 501st Legion were also in attendance.
We have uploaded over 220 photos from this morning's LEGOLAND Star Wars Miniland Expansion launch event. Spanning every episode of the Star Wars saga including a theme from The Clone Wars, LEGO's Star Wars Miniland is truly a sight to behold.
LEGOLAND®California’s Master Model Builders, Gary McIntire and Ryan Ziegelbauer, installed a new LEGO® model of a Jawa sandcrawler in LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland today as the family theme park prepares to reveal the expanded area to the public on March 29.
For the first time ever, LEGOLAND California will feature a Star Wars themed area that will be located in miniland this coming March! With over 2,000 LEGO models, the miniland will follow a chronological path through the Star Wars timeline – Episodes I – VI plus Clone Wars will all be there! Individual film scenes were selected by a panel of LEGO, LEGOLAND and Lucasfilm experts. The miniland will have over 1.5 million LEGO bricks, weigh more than 1.3 tons and took over 13 months to develop and build.
