Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,385

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, October 5, 2010

The newly-released "vintage" Darth Sidious is far more awesome than it looks at first glance.  His hood really clings nicely, his sculpting is wonderful, and just look at that face!  Are you making a huge mistake by not running out to the store to buy one right now?  Read on!

TVC "Darth Sidious"

This was the first TVC figure I was *really* looking forward to, and it didn't disappoint. It's clearly supreme over every other Sidious and Emperor figure I own (and I have 'em all).

However, I wonder whether Hasbro should have named it "Emperor Palpatine." The Senate Duel scene happens *after* the Empire has been declared, so, technically, isn't the character "Emperor Palpatine" at that point?

The figure is clearly intended for the ROTS wave. However, technically, if this is to be the "definitive" Darth Sidious, then the cardback *should* display the original Sidious, which was released as part of the Episode I line.

As you can tell, these nits have been picking away at me, lo these many weeks.

This is definitely the first 3.75" version of Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine in this outfit, so Hasbro's card back designation of "First Issue" is correct. They only made a 12" version of this figure in 2005's ROTS line.

Sidious is Awesome

this is the Sidious I have been waiting for since ROTS first aired back at the midnight screening in 2005.... love the figure the outfit and so happy that I finally found one at TRU 2 weeks ago.... this guy is awesome......
