New Hasbro Star Tours Figure Packs Out at Disney Parks

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 9, 2011

The new Star Tours action figure sets are at the Disney parks right now.  These new Hasbro action figure gift sets each sport at least 4 action figures plus new accessories.  Some are better than others, and they're $39.95 each.  (My pal Shannon was kind enough to pick mine up from Disneyland.)  More details after the jump from someone who hasn't been on the new ride yet. UPDATE: Called out "differences" on repackaged figures.

Set #1 is Ambush at Star Tours.  It features two Sky Troopers (Stormtroopers with Clone guns, jetpacks, and new flight gear plus new helmets), Darth Vader (TSC Hoth/Bespin Vader with the scraped up shoulder), and Boba Fett (2004 Vintage).  The new accessory is Darth Vader's Hover Platform which, I assume, you see on the ride somewhere.  It's a big round thing with a control stick.  The only obviously new elements are the Sky Troopers and the Hover Platform.

Set #2 is Star Tours Travel Agency which is the better of the two, in terms of new product.  You get a Signal Droid (new mold), Aly San San (WA-7 redeco), Ace-38 (new mold), C-3PO (TSC Endor C-3PO), and Luggage Attendant (Utai redeco in orange.)  Also included are two suitcases and two clear display stands for the figures which will require them.  With four new accessories, two new molds for figures, and two significantly different repaints, this set isn't too bad a deal plus you get the rereleased C-3PO figure.

DIFFERENT ENOUGH UPDATE : Since a few of you asked, the C-3PO, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett figures are not significantly different (or different at all) from previous releases, save for accessories.  C-3PO is identical to the last few Endor Throne releases, Darth Vader is the same as the Bespin Confession 2006 release (save for the boxes), and Boba Fett seems to be a straight repack.  If you only collect movie figures, odds are you have these be now.

We'll be focusing on these in Figure of the Day in the coming days, weeks, and months-- but which new Star Tours figure would you like to see in Figure of the Day first?  Whatever gets the most comments by the end of the day will be Friday's Figure of the Day!
