Image Bank: VC94 Imperial Navy Commander

By Mike — Thursday, April 5, 2012

Imperial Navy Commander? Death Star Trooper? Why not keep it traditional planet obliterating evil with Death Squad Commander? The cardback is beautifully and nostalgically Kenner and the figure itself is certainly the best iteration of this character yet.

Appearance: A New Hope
Sequence: VC94

Includes: DH-17 Blaster Pistol, Removable Helmet
Retail: $9.99

Released: April 2012

Cardback:  This collection brings to life the incredible story of good versus evil that captured our imagination and took us to a galaxy far, far away. Iconic Star Wars heroes and villains are captured with incredible detail and premium features to commemorate each epic tale in the Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you! [MORE IMAGES]

Sculpt: It's hard to imagine that the 30th Anniversary Collection Death Star Trooper (which was recently re-issued last year for Saga Legends) is so long in the tooth. This new sculpt completely dominates every aspect of that release, including a much better headsculpt and less bulbous joints.

Articulation: The figure has 12 points of articulation for decent poseability. There's ball jointed articulation in the shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles but a v crotch for the hips.

Accessories: The all new helmet is a better look and fit. The D-17 Blaster appears to be the same used for the Rebel Trooper with added paint detail on the scope.

Topping Things Off: This figure has "army builder" written all over it. Many collectors will surely want to upgrade their TAC versions, but unless or until Hasbro packs more per case, this one will be a tough hunt that many folks will buy multiples of even at that $10 pricepoint. You'll also want to collect this one for that gorgeous Kenner Star Wars cardback and character photo of Sergeant Torent. He gets our highest rating.

Rating: Most Wanted  (***** 5 Bounty Points)

He looks great, can't wait to

He looks great, can't wait to get him. Just wish that damn choking hazard sticker didnt have to stomp all over the logo. Jeez, if your kids dumb enough to choke on the toy that's just natural selection. I grew up fine through the 70s without eating every toy that didn't have big sticker over it warning me off!
