Hi everybody! As you may or may not know, I've been writing about Star Wars toys online for about 21 1/2 years. For the past 15 years, it's been here at Galactic Hunter, and also at 16bit.com. What you might not know is that just this last week, the keys to the server were handed over to me. Also, the bills to the server.

If you've been enjoying this site and all the toy news from the past 21 years, I'd love it if you could chip in via Patreon and help us out. We're hoping to get about $30 per month - this will keep Q&A and Figure of the Day flowing, and keep the archives online for as long as humanly possible.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,329: Captain Cassian Andor (The Black Series 3 3/4-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, January 5, 2017

This smaller Captain Cassian Andor is exclusive to Walmart, and includes a swell three-piece weapon that serves as a pistol or a rifle.  It also has a head sculpt that looks great with stubble that could maybe look great if you painted it better.  I like this one a bunch.  Read on!

Lost Ewok Cartoon Kenner Figures Found after Three Decades

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 4, 2017

As a kid, one of the things that always confused me was the make-up of the Ewoks cartoon TV series action figure line.  Why would there be only 6 figures, only 2 of which were regulars and heroes?  A line with 4 Dulok villains seemed odd, and when I saw the second series prototypes a few years later I was even more confused - where's Teebo?  Where's Kneesaa?   How could Chituhr be more popular?

Well, the Star Wars Collectors Archive may have found part of the answer.  In an article Unknown Ewoks: Unearthed Figures from the Animated Series, we see four unproduced Ewoks from that era.  These characters were largely more important to the series and the brief marketing juggernaut of Ewok licensed products in that era.   Perhaps Star Wars could have had a presence for a few more years were these made instead - I remember seeing pegs upon pegs of unsold Duloks (and the occasional Logray) at Kay-Bee toy stores for $1 each for quite some time, and while I did buy Logray on sight I never saw Wicket.  (Or, as Droids went, R2-D2 and C-3PO.)

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,328: Scarif Stormtrooper (The Black Series 3 3/4-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Walmart's exclusive 3 3/4-inch Scarif Stormtrooper is pretty good.  I've seen quite a few around in the last couple of days, and that means - I assume - there's an ample supply.  It has thigh swivels, a cool blaster, and some excellent battle damage - did you get yours yet, and should you buy a bunch?  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,327: Sergeant Jyn Erso (The Black Series 3 3/4-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, January 4, 2017

This Sergeant Jyn Erso is pretty cool - Walmart's 3 3/4-inch super-articulated figure actually has a slightly different costume than the non-exclusive version.  There's a missing jacket under her vest - this is one of the many costume changes in Rogue One.   If you're on the fence about this figure, don't be - she's got a lot of articulation, a sniper rifle, and a unique costume - read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,326: Jyn Erso (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, January 2, 2017

Currently exclusive to Kmart, Jyn Erso has not only an exclusive base, but an exclusive figure with unique accessories.  You won't find this costume anywhere else at this scale just yet, and there's no companion figure just yet.  Is it worth tracking down one of the twelve remaining Kmarts to find this figure?  Read on!

Rumor Time: 4K Star Wars for Theatrical Rerelease?

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, January 1, 2017

If it's true, 2017 is looking up already!  As a possibly 40th Anniversary present, check out this article: "4K Theatrical Restoration of the True Original “Star Wars” possible for 2017."  A choice quote:

"According to recent comments made by Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, a 4K restoration of Star Wars Episode IV “A New Hope” does indeed exist and now the only real question is whether or not the cleaned up and sharpened version of the movie will be hitting the big screen once again."

Final List of Kmart, Sears Closures for 2016

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, December 30, 2016

Former retail giants Kmart and Sears have been finding their customer base becoming more selective, as some major cities have closed a store or three per year until all that is left is one or two stores to serve a couple million people.   This week, Business Insider posts Sears and Kmart are closing more stores - see if your store is on the list. (Mine wasn't.)   With only a handful of stores remaining, exclusives are tougher to come by and it's less frequently a stop on a typical toy tun for many of us.
