The New Slave I Has Carbonite Storage

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, August 25, 2010

If you picked up the new Slave I in the Toys "R" Us exclusive "Rise of Boba Fett" Ultimate Battle Pack (in stores now), you may have noticed a few special compartments-- and maybe even guessed what they could be used, or repurposed, for.  We took the liberty of taking some quick shots of the Carbonite chamber in these storage areas.  Click through for pictures!

First up: the front slot, which was called out for Carbonite Storage at Celebration V.

This spot is right under the seating area on the front of the ship.  The 2006 model of the Carbonite block slides in quite snuggly, and actually seems like almost too tight a fit.  Thankfully, there's a more traditional storage spot just around the corner.

The ramp folds down and the spot designed for the "prison pod" included with the new ship is actually sculpted to perfectly cradle the 2006 Carbonite block.  Granted, that existing one is partially melted but it's still the best sculpt and the best fit right now.  Perhaps if/when we get a repaint of the vehicle in Empire Strikes Back colors, we can expect much more from a new Hansicle.

For the curious, the ship is $109.99 in the USA and includes 5 action figures, plus a Mace Windu Jedi Starfighter.  The animated Bossk is a spectacularly good figure which we'll be focusing on more shortly.  (Yes, it's better than the Vintage one.  Both Vintage ones, 1980 and 2007.)  If by any chance you have the means to pick this one up, you totally should.
