I felt compelled to revisit another old figure: Grand Inquisitor (The Retro Collection). I actually made a few edits to the review, so if you haven't seen it lately? Go do that. This figure has gone from "worth less" to "worthless" to "actually going back up to SRP," so maybe go pick one up if your local comic shop or equivalent has some on the pegs for $2.99 still. That's how I came to pick up extras. That and a crippling addiction to Kenner-style toys.
This figure has aged well. The live-action character is still a twerp, but this guy has cool armor, nifty red lights, and really good face paint. For what it is, Hasbro did a very good job with a uniquely cut cape and hands that can hold his double disco lightsaber. If you're the kind of collector who loves mini-rigs but hates new shows, think of these guys as the Expanded Universe mini-rigs of action figures. It has improved my opinion of this goofy Sith cosplayer considerably.
So, what was the big revelation? His seemingly stuck cape can be wriggled off on some samples, so you can indeed cram the figure in a ship sans cape. If you have a Star Wars Rebels TIE Advanced (sponsored link, for which we may get a cut of a sale if you buy something after clicking) - a gem of a toy that feels like a toy, complete with clandestine rockets - he looks great in there. But it's really expensive now, after being blown out. The Rebels ships were all quite excellent, but I digress.
If you're bored, and you have five bucks, I recommend scouring your second-hand stores that take middle-aged men's old toy collections. You will undoubtedly find one of these for far less than you paid for lunch today, and possibly even for less than the charge to upsize a combo meal. People just didn't buy him, which could be very good for you to have a new goofy desk buddy at work.
