It's a short week here for Americans in the workplace, so there's no time to waste - read Q&A now! We look at Articulation, with More Articulation, and some More Articulation after that. We also engage in some wild speculation because we love it so much. Read on, and submit your questions for next week!
Here's a fun bit of trivia - a new SKU is hitting stores! In my quest across the desert, I found a Walmart and a Target that each had assortment #A1189, which is a new basic Lightsaber assortment - not refreshed packaging for the previous assortment, but a new SKU with a new DPCI at Target.
Ja, das haben die Ewoks so gerne! Starwars-Figuren.com has shots of the Kmart-exclusive Ewok Assault Catapult set that was alluded to back at Toy Fair but not seen until, well, now. It has 2 new Ewok figures in a vintage-style box with a catapult accessory and appears to be official Hasbro photography.
If you've been involved in toy fandom, the hand-made toy field, or have watched cable TV, there's a chance you might be familiar with the "bootlegger" known as the Sucklord or his brand name, Suckadelic. What he makes are generally art pieces and are wildly not appropriate for the kiddies, but older folks might be interested in his latest product - a Kickstarter-supported, mass-produced, and already at the goal line of mini-figures called S.U.C.K.L.E., or Simply Unimportant Collectable Kitschy Little Eyesores, sculpted by George Gaspar of October Toys fame.
Warning/guarantee: adult language and content.
Week 2 of The Black Series Greedo Reveal over at Entertainment Earth shows some pretty amazing stuff, like digital turnaround preliminary "sculpts" of the figure as well as a horrifying eyeless look at the original mask. Some truly spectacular reference shots of his blaster as well as several notes from the people who make our toys are on display, which is the kind of stuff I would like to see for many more figures if Hasbro is willing to share.
Hallmark announces the "Wrath of Rancor" Keepsake ornament as their 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International (July 18-21) and New York Comic Con (October 10-13) exclusive. The piece commemorates the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi featuring Luke Skywalker's epic battle with the Rancor monster underneath Jabba's palace.
Surprise? There is another...Gentle Giant SDCC exclusive. Today's announcement is plenty times awesome, especially for those who are versed in their vintage Kenner history and know that this was only released in Canada and Australia in this packaging format and a Tri-logo card in Europe, but never released in the U.S. (sound familiar 2013 Movie Heroes fans?) The fourth SDCC exclusive is a Jumbo Vintage POTF Yakface complete with coin!
But wait, there's more! Gentle Giant announces a third Star Wars 2013 SDCC/Convention exclusive: McQuarrie Concept C-3PO Minibust! Based on the conceptual art of the great Ralph McQuarrie, the deluxe minibust features two interchangeable heads that represent two different concepts for our favorite golden droid.

It's Monday, and it's summer, so you have no reason not to read Q&A! Let's find out why the birds are so angry, and look at Jumbo Gentle Giant figures. Oh, and themed waves of action figures. That was a thing once. Also more rantings, ravings, and rampant unsourced and unreasonable SDCC speculation can be yours if you read on!
A couple of interesting reports popped up this week on Star Wars: Rebels, the new TV show currently expected for a 2014 premiere and, most likely, a Celebration Europe tease. BleedingCool.com has a report in which they describe the show as being teen-heavy, which isn't entirely unexpected given that Luke was pretty young, and it's not like Biggs was all that much older. Supposedly the same is true with Episode VII, also reported by the site with a casting note confirmed by Lucasfilm.
It's not Star Wars, but shares the same Kenner DNA. Super7 is rolling out their new ReAction Alien action figure assortment that's based on the cancelled line from 1979 in eloquent style for SDCC. There are four exclusives altogether and two are FREE!
Gentle Giant always tends to offer something nifty and desirable for the summer convention exclusives, like their 3D Yoda and Jumbo Blue Snaggletooth from 2012. For 2013's Comic-Con International, the creative artists from Burbank have announced FIVE Comic-Con exclusives (thus far), with two Star Wars offerings that are bound to be on top of your exclusives wishlist.
