Etsy Seller Made Star Wars Holiday Special Boba Fett's Panna Dragon

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, December 1, 2022

Via Trash Compactor on Etsy: Panna Dragon (from the Holiday Special) - 3D Printed - Original Design by JLCreationsByJay. It's big! You can fit retro/vintage figures, or Vintage figures in there! The good news is that it's a big, cartoony creature based on the classic Star Wars Holiday Special design. The bad news is that assembly and paint are required. And it's expensive. And shipping isn't cheap.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,982: Dengar (and IG-88, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, December 1, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Dengar (and IG-88, The Retro Collection). His details are not as sharp as the original at all, but he can hold his blaster straight this time. That's arguably a big improvement in this Amazon exclusive figure set. The skin tone is somewhere in between the peachy and yellowy old faces you may have seen, with what feels like rock-solid construction and freely moving joints. Other than the fuzzy sculpted detail, Hasbro did a real good job here and the Kenner-style paint job turned out really well. And yes we have comparison photos with the originals. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,979: Boba Fett (and Bossk, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, November 22, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Boba Fett (and Bossk, The Retro Collection). It's a rerelease of a remake, with a couple of subtle differences that may just be batch variations - but hey, he holds his gun better, isn't that worth a look? Also Amazon has him in stock as I write this, but you came to know if it's any good. Read on for the full review!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,978: Bossk (and Boba Fett, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, November 17, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Bossk (and Boba Fett, The Retro Collection). He's just different enough to make you happy? He looks a teeny tiny bit different from the original 1980s toy, but has a retooled hand to better hold his blaster and a few minor paint masks changes. The sculpt is less detailed (like all reissues so far), but he'll probably make you happy if you want a figure that hasn't beheld the ravages of age. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,964: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 29, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Retro Collection). Let's wrap up Old School September with this figure that looks like it came out of 1984. He's got a blaster, he's got a lightsaber, and he has one of Hasbro's very best Jedi Robes - which is surprising, given it's a retro figure. I really like this one. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,962: Fifth Brother (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 22, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Fifth Brother (The Retro Collection). It's a good one - I like the double-bladed lightsaber, I like the lack of a vinyl cape, I like how he stands and sits and fits in my vehicles. He's fun to fuss with and arguably one of the best figures to get thanks to his cool hat. (Sure he's not doing much on the show but at least you get a decent action figure.) Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,961: Darth Vader (Dark Times, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Vader (Dark Times, The Retro Collection). White what-if figure offers a cloth cape and a non-telescoping lightsaber, giving us a functionally very different Dark Lord of the Sith toy. Unfortunately the sculpting is the flattest of the wave, with some areas having less sculpted detail than the 1978 original. (But it's still really neat.) Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,957: Chewbacca (Prototype Edition - Orange Head, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, September 6, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chewbacca (Prototype Edition - Orange Head, The Retro Collection). Let's keep looking at 1970s- and 1980s-style action figures this week with a Crayola-infused Wookiee - Hasbro's fourth "prototype" release so far. He doesn't exactly deviate from the no-paint, many-colors pattern we've enjoyed but it's still fun to check out things like a bright yellow bowcaster and a Grinch-colored Wookiee-limb. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,956: NED-B (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 1, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,956: NED-B (The Retro Collection). Ned's about $12, and looks a little modern, but is he worth it? I think so - it's a new retro-style droid and we don't get a heck of a lot of those. He has a hammer! Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,948: Yoda (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 4, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Yoda (The Retro Collection). It's very close to the 1980 original, . Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,945: Imperial Death Trooper (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 26, 2022

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Death Trooper (The Retro Collection). It's a Kenner-style figure borrows a lot from the original Stormtrooper figure from way back in 1978 - the non-articulated helmet and the incorporation of the original blaster come to mind. It's a glossy figure with bright green lenses, so it pops nicely Read on!
