Celebration 3 is the potentially the last convention of its kind. Organized by Lucasfilm to rally the devoted before Revenge of the Sith's release, the con is as semi-tragic as Revenge of the Sith is said to be, but fans may find a new hope as LFL has declared that a major announcement regarding the Star Wars saga's future will be made during the convention. Move over New Pope, here comes George Lucas.

While Celebration 3's featured celebrities may pale a bit compared to Celebration 2 in 2002, which featured Star Wars royalty like Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, the announcement that George Lucas will make a handful of appearances has created a significant stir of excitement. (No, he won't be doing autograph sessions, but if you run towards him you might get some memorable bruises from his bodyguards.)

Collectible favorites like Hasbro, Gentle Giant, Code 3, Master Replicas, and LEGO (to name the very tip of the merchandising iceberg) will be showing off their new wares and exclusive goodies that are only available at Celebration 3. As always, we'll have our crew of mercs on the ground galactically hunting down the scoops for our readers.
