Sideshow Collectibles really knows how to put on a, erm, show, and this year's Comic-Con offerings were no exception. From their 12" scale Jabba The Hutt; to the awe inspiring 12" action figures; to their ¼ scale statues; 1:1 scale busts; and the pièces de résistance, their new lifesize R2-D2 and C-3PO; Sideshow wowed the crowd.

Scum & Villainy

Collectors have begged for years for a 12" scale Jabba The Hutt, and the best we received previously was a half-hearted latex maquette slapped onto a pressboard slab. Mind you youngin's out there, that was highfalutin at the time at about $150. Sideshow heard our cries, and for a princely (but affordable) sum of ~$350 (plus shipping) they've put together an unbelievable package.

Jabba The Hutt, the OG, Boba Fett's boss, the dude who put Princess Leia in a metal g-string in meticulously sculpted 12" form for only $119! Unheard of! Add to that a full throne with his hookah pipe (don't call it a bong), his frog snack-mix, pillows, and a throw for only $199. Add to that a creatures set with Salacious Crumb, Wol Cabashite, and Worrt the attackthing for only $32.99, and you've got an unbelievable Jabba The Hutt's throne scene. (Seriously, folks, for three and a half bills it's a bargain, especially with Sideshow's attention to detail.)

But wait! There's more! Sideshow also announced a Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise and a Bib Fortuna for about $60 each. Granted, $60 does seem like a lot for a 1/6 scale doll, but this writer has been thoroughly impressed by Sideshow's final product thus far. The aesthetic side of toy crafting doesn't get much better than this.

Sideshow also showed off their wares from previous offerings. Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, is the most detailed sculpted likeness of actor Mark Hamill ever seen in collectible form. Displayed samples of Kit Fisto, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Anakin Skywalker whetted the appetites of Sideshow's coterie of collectors and first-time visitors to the Sideshow booth.

¼ Scale Statues

While they aren't exactly figures in the action figure sense, collectors are crazy for this line of ¼ scale statues due to its incredible scale, impressive use of soft goods, and tremendous level of detail and accuracy in sculpting.  On-hand samples of  Princess Leia, General Grievous, Luke Skywalker & Yoda, and the newest offering, Boba Fett, are impressive if pricey.

1:1 Scale Busts

Another offering for those who desire big-ticket items, these 1:1 scale busts of  Yoda, Greedo and Darth Maul are luxuriously detailed and luxuriously priced.

Lifesize R2-D2 and C-3PO

Just announced in time for Comic-Con, Sideshow Collectibles has teamed up with film robotics master Fred Barton, for the creation of lifesize figures of R2-D2 and C-3PO, Star Wars' iconic droid duo. Pricing and order information for both R2-D2 and C-3PO (we're assuming "sold separately" applies) will be available later at www.SideshowCollectibles.com. Consider us awestruck.

Can one company do more to appeal to a fan base as ravenous as the Star Wars crowd? We'd be hard pressed to find another that is trying quite this hard. These ain't your Daddy's little plastic men, that's for sure.
