Wizards of the Coast have announced (via Variety) that ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Reveals Star Wars, ‘World of Warcraft’-Themed Tabletop Roleplaying Games as Part of New ‘Universes Beyond’ Collection. While I'm not much of a social gamer myself, or for that matter particularly social at all, I've always enjoyed flipping through RPG guide books and bought a couple of the West End Games ones back when there was little else going on in Star Wars at the end of the 1980s.
The article describes it as "Season of Rebellion," which makes sense as next year will most likely spend a lot of time re-endearing fans to old-school Star Wars for the 50th anniversary.
I might pick up a book or two just to check out the art and whatever else they come up with. These books are a lot like a series bible, and it's fun to see what monsters or machines they make up to expand on the decades of stories we already have. Given the World of Warcraft expansion is later this year, one might assume pre-orders are nearby. Real nearby. There were no dates given for Star Wars.
