The Genndy Tartavosky animated series from 2003 has spawned a great sub set of collectible maquettes by Gentle Giant, and Entertainment Earth's exclusive Princess Leia as the bounty hunter Boussh is another great addition. This 10 inch tall rendition of the princess as re-imagined if she were in the style of the cartoon is nicely designed, sexy, but sort of fragile.

This is the second of Entertainment Earth's animated maquette exclusive based on The Original Trilogy. Their first, Boba Fett with Han in Carbonite, is a hot collectible now and somewhat of a challenge to find for under $200 (it originally retailed for $120). And that had a 1750 piece run. Leia is limited to only 1000, and while she's not as hot a commodity as Boba Fett, she's sure to not hang around too long. 

The design is definitely sexied up, with Leia holding her pike and thermal detonator as she strikes  an alluring pose. If you're looking for authenticity to the actual film costume, Gentle Giant took some artistic license in making the paint app slightly different and lighter shade in some areas. Was there some way the helmet could have been removable? That's probably the greatest strike against this otherwise superb maquette and one that made their 2005 minibust so amazing.

Her right arm is detachable and the pike is a separate piece. The base is also detachable and is a small part of Jabba's Palace floor. Be careful when assembling the arm and pike, as there's a bottom piece of the pike which is glued on can easily pop off as it did with our sample. When slipping the pike through her right hand, the extended forefinger is pretty fragile and can break off easily, again as it did with ours.

Despite the quality issues we had with our particular sample, this is a great looking piece to display next to the animated Fett with Han Carbonite. At a pricepoint of $79.99, it's fairly in the affordability sweetspot and  up there in collectability with a 1000 piece run.
