It's back! The Garden State Kaiju Mudbelly Wild Type Figure is back in stock for $35.00 after it launched and sold out quickly last month. I got mine on my desk - he's smaller than Kenner's original Dewback toy, but cute and the detail work on a soft-vinyl figure can be truly amazing stuff. The sculpting is also impressive, but the paint work looks like a real mass-produced Kenner toy. It's cute, and is only jointed at the neck.
While not licensed, this No. 39020 (second shooter) is a WWF-esque take on Greedo. A painted Japanese vinyl figure, pre-orders are now open for $70.00 a pop. (That's a lot more than his PVC figures, which tend to be $20-$25.) If you like wrestling and Kenner toys, this might be just the thing for you - or not, what do I know? UPDATE: Sold out! But follow them on Instagram so you can find out whatever it is they plan to do next.
Reader Timothy pointed out this neat unlicensed/fan item Mudbelly "Wild Type" Soft Vinyl Figure from Garden State Kaiju. The 5-inch soft vinyl figure is $35.00 and looks a lot lke Kenner's original Patrol Dewback toy from the 1970s.
The official Star Wars site, PR people, and all sorts of fans saw the news that you can See the New Sith Trooper from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at SDCC 2019. This means that the people behind the movies now know what smart, handsome toy professionals have known for years - red looks good on Stormtroopers.
Funko, Hasbro, Loungefly, Topps, Rubie's (Hi Lenny!), Hot Toys, and more - interestingly, not Mattel - will be selling some first-look Sith Trooper action figures. For those with memory issues, Hasbro has done "sneak preview" The Black Series figures for all of the Disney-era movies except for Solo, and nearly identical figures were released with different packaging and sometimes without some accessories later.
They're back! Before Funko launched Pop! Vinyl, Hasbro captured lightning in a bottle with Mighty Muggs about a decade ago. We got Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Marvel, and Indiana Jones as just a few of the $10 chunky figures. Collectors and kids loved them, but Hasbro didn't want to farm the line out to more licenses, or keep it going, and just let it lapse. This is when Funko released Funko Force 2.0, which were renamed Pop! Vinyl figures and changed the toy world - the greatest toy trend was in Hasbro's hands, and by letting it languish, someone else one-upped them. But they're back! And they brought a cool action feature this time!
