NYCC: The HASBRO Star Wars Report - Partying Like It's 1999

By Mike — Sunday, October 16, 2011

(NEW YORK, NY) Are collectors ready to party like it's 1999? The Phantom Menace arrived with much hoopla and high, even unrealistic, expectations when it was released over 12 years ago and for many ushered in the era of CGI and Jar Jar hate. Will time and 3D be more forgiving towards Episode I?

New York Comic-Con is  underway and we've posted some highlight photos from the Hasbro booth. The Phantom Menace is clearly the main theme, with Podracers, a Podracer multipack, and not to mention the Darth Maul package branding prevalently on display. Vintage does continue with a new cardback paying homage to the classic Kenner 12 backs. There's something big under a black blanket that we can't wait for Hasbro to reveal later in the show.

Shown were the upcoming Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan Kenobi action figures with light up lightsabers for the upcoming TPM 3D release assortment.
